Lots of trade rumors popping up about Hayward to boston?

u bros really think the jazz would trade away hayward? i dont MEAN to inject racialism into this discussion, but the harsh truth is hayward offers certain qualities that prolly sell tickets to a certain demographic in the local area. wink wink.

I think there is only one player the Jazz would trade him for, and that is Jabari Parker, because he is mormon. The dream scenario for the Jazz is that we win the lotto, select Jabari, and he baptizes Hayward and Malone into the LDS church. I swear, so many mormons would watch like every jazz game possible then. Honestly, I think it would be hilarious.

He is playing well. He is going to get huge offers from some teams, and the Jazz have to decide if they want to pay him, or trade him. While he may be less efficient, he is averaging career highs in everything but shooting percentage. And his shooting percentages are steadily rising

Based on everything I've seen with my eye AND a look over some of his advanced stats, he looks like a young player that's trying to earn his big payday but has pretty much become what he's going to become and shouldering a bigger load than he should.

If the choice is to worry about paying too much for a high-level role player/letting him walk or sell high and improve your own draft pick, well...

Question
If we traded hayward to boston then would he still be a restricted free agent and boston could match any offer from other teams?
Or is he just rfa if on the jazz?

The team that acquires Hayward would retain his free agency rights as well (provided that they tender the qualifying offer).

Jazz don't need Rondo
No one would get excited about David Green or Olynyk.
Celtics would be fools to part with an unprotected pick

Even if DL could work out a deal that had some long term advantages, this would be a nightmare PR move. The Jazz would be trading their best player for the second time in 4 years.

What does this tell the casual Jazz fan?

Jazz really liked Olynyk when he worked out for us during the draft.

Olynyk is awful - he's a jump shooting center without 3 point range. In a couple of years he may be a decent guy coming off the bench but I wouldn't trade him for Hayward in any scenario unless a unprotected Celtic pick was coming back.

Why would the Jazz sit Green? I know they would be tanking but how would that sit with the league, Green and other NBA players besides Jazz teammates. I agree the Nets picks would be great. The Nets are going to suck even worse by then. Boston is not going to overpay to get Hayward. There is no reason to do so. They can offer him a contract in the summer.

Um, I think David Robinson, Avery John, Del Negro, Sean Elliot were all ok with sitting. They all turned out ok. You go to Green and say this, "Green, we can play you this year, get a worse pick, because you are a good player, or you can take the year off, get paid, enjoy yourself, and come back ready to compete for a title next fall."

Uhhhh...easy choice.

Those are completely different scenarios. Ostertag flat out was lazy and did not play well. AK had a way bigger contract than Hayward will be eligible for, and the salary cap was lower then, so the percentage of cap room that AK's contract took was much larger. AK maxed out at like 18 mil per year under a less than 60 million per year cap. Hayward's contract maxes out at about 15.5 mil per year, under a salary cap that could be closer to $70 million. HUGE difference in the scenarios between the two players.

This. I'd be okay with maxing Hayward out right now, because we can, it won't hurt us, and by the time it could hurt us, the contract will be over. Remember, any contract Utah matches will only be for 4 years.

Green, are you just pimping this trade because you want someone with the name "Green" on the Jazz? Maybe you are secretly Jeff Green and a closet Utah Jazz fan pushing their own trade. :)

If it wasn't true then, it definitely is now. I am Jeff Green.

Why wouldn't Boston do the Brooklyn picks and Green for Hayward? Hayward is better than Green. The two picks might end up good, or they might end up in the 20's. You get a known quantity in Hayward, he fits in perfectly with Rondo and Sully, you get to keep your pick for this year, you have enough cap room for a max guy this summer on top of Hayward.

If I was Boston, I'd really try to do it for one pick and Green, but I'd end up doing two picks. I HATE the lottery and the uncertainty that comes with picks. It's ridiculous. So, you would trade a whole bunch of uncertainty for a known quantity. Heck, sit Hayward/Rondo a bunch, add a top 5 pick and have your contending team by next fall if you are Boston. Imagine this:

Rondo
Smart
Hayward - Paul Pierce
Sullinger
Gasol

Good young talent in Sullinger, Hayward, Smart. Good veterans in Rondo, Gasol and Pierce. That team is competing for a title next year. Then, in five years, you have Smart, Hayward and Sullinger to build around.

Quick question....Which Hayward will the Jazz be trading?

The Hayward who went 13 for 16 for 37 pts against the Thunder, or

The Hayward who went 1-17 for 5 pts against the Pelicans?

The one who gives you 21 points per game in this enormous sample.
