Public nudity laws ignored during gay Pride?

So some of Toronto school board trustees are under fire after they asked public nudity laws to be enforced during Pride events. They think it is not good for kids to see naked men and women marching and rubbing each other in the middle of the day which is very common in Pride parades. I totally agree with it - if I go swimming naked in public pool or lake I would be arrested for exposure, why than gay people do it without any kind of punishment? Gay activists are already crying discrimination and about nudity being traditional and inevitable part of the Pride - kind of disgusting.

I agree its not a school board issue.

At this time, I'm not aware of any particular message at a Gay Pride that is bolstered or enhanced by nudity. I don't think "tradition" is a sufficient reason. This may be my ignorance regarding the message of the event.

By contrast, if this were a Femen event, I can see why nudity would be an important aspect.

The basic message gay people need to get across to people who hate them is that being gay doesn't mean you're a pedophile or obsessed with sex -- you just have a different sexual identity, that's all. Turning these parades into lewd displays doesn't exactly help communicate that message.

Agreed, but I have never seen nudity at a gay pride parade and I have been to a bunch of them. Never been to the Toronto one but I dont think that is something that happens except rare places.

Now if people are calling guys with their shirts off nudity than we have a different issue.

I've been to a few out here in West LA (Boys Town) and have never seen nudity.
