What's new

***Official new head coach search thread*** (merged)

I will support the coach that is hired, even if it is Boylen, until they give me a reason not to.

Messina's last five years in European basketball was all failure.
Big clubs that chose him (after spending hugely into strong rosters) have been sorry (Real Madrid, CSKA).
While he has not been able to do it in Europe for a serious length of time now, I can't logically see how he will be successful in NBA basketball,
after whatever span of time he will need for adjusting.
If the Jazz will be patient enough to give him like 5 years, without rethinking about it regardless of pain in the meantime, they might look forward to shifting to a certain degree of "European basketball mentality", and I wouldn't understand why that would be desirable anyway (I am a European myself.)

What would you say the reason for that is? He had been very successful between 1998-2008.

Another reason to say no to Boylen, look at the Spurs in the post season. Fallin apart already. Boylen was hired this year as an assistant, right?

If anyone hasn't posted yet, CSKA humiliated Panathinaikos(74-44) the previous night. So CSKA and Messina is now in Final Four in Euroleague.

Yeah and also a few American players in his squad including Sonny Weems ... so it's not like he hasn't got any experience coaching American guys...

Good post triple k

I guess I'll bring this up again: any chance of Thibodeau being fired if Chicago loses in the first round?

Is our position more attractive, to outsiders, than NY? Obviously we know that you have better job security and that NY sucks and can have a much shorter stint there, but with the Jackson hire, would this be a default move for him if NY wanted him? I know he's from NY, or at least somewhere in the Northeast (speaking of, whatever happened to the poster Northeast?)

I might be biased, but the Jazz opening looks way better than the Knicks. We have young players, high draft pick, and lots of cap space. NY has what? No young players, no draft picks...
