Messina vs. Blatt. This Friday.

Didn't watch the game. But Messina's team got outscored in the 4th quarter 23-12 to lose by one point. Can't be a good sign, can it?

For those who did watch: what do you attribute this to?

Messina is a good coach but he lacks of personality and he can't handle the pressure in crucial games!

Blatt is a great motivator...this is what makes the difference at this level!

Anyway the Euroleague has become a curse for Cska!

blatt is one of the best at actually finishing the game

maccabi started the pressing against cska at the end of the 3rd quarter already, just to make this game close at the end of the 4th - that's the only chance that maccabi had against a superior cska

..and they played their chance!

epic game!
 
Any Euroleague fans want to give us odds on Tomic's Barca squad upsetting Madrid in the other semi? I assume that it's rather meaningless that Barca easilly handled Madrid a few days ago, correct?
 
I'm wondering if it was Messina or Ty Corbin on the sideline for cska?

They were up by four with 19.2 seconds left , up by 1 with the ball with 6+ seconds left and still they lost the game. Does Chris Paul play for cska?
 
Messina was clearly tanking to kill the interest of teams like LA

he knows he wants to go to utah and doesnt need the distractions of other teams chasing him so he threw the game

Except that this doesn't happen everyday for him.

This is basketball, this kind of thing happens and this is what makes this game so exciting.

How you can blame Messina when Khryapa lost ball in no pressure situation? All he needed to do was to hold on to the ball and wait to be fouled and yet he somehow managed to lose the grip on the ball with 11 seconds left? Seriously one of the worst turnovers I have ever seen.
And as much as I like Blatt it was his first win vs Messina in 10 head to head matches.

The thing that was most impressing was the abilty of Blatt to get within reach to the last seconds with a much inferior team. Baring the fact he lost Sofo with foul trouble early on - it is remarkable.
 
Congrats to Maccabi&Blatt. Couldn't see the game so can't say much except that I'm not surprised at all. We were saying constantly that this CSKA team is not good as it seems on the paper. Not to mention to Teodosic who is constantly getting injured and ruining the teams rhythm. Plus, It's Euroleague F4, no series and win or die game like always, so anything can happen.

Though I'd be glad if the Blatt homers just were praising Blatt and quit bashing Messina. It may sound interesting to the people who don't know much about Euroball but it sounds just childish to the people who know about Messina and Blatt. Both are great coaches.

Btw, you can say that the Maccabi is the inferior team but don't undersell them, no star player doesn't mean they are not a good team. They are very decent and everyone knows that Euroball is not about star players but team play.
