KOC, Let's Make A Deal

I still support AK, Hayward, Fesenko, and the rights to Tomic for Battier and Martin. I can't see Houston accepting that, but I think everyone on that team will be available for the right combination of savings and youth if their record doesn't significantly improve.

And I know Martin has been injured and plays bad D. I believe his insane scoring prowess is worth it (4th in PPS at 1.58, which is insane considering he shoots 14 shots a game as a perimeter player and this is about par for the course for him).

Pretty sure the Jazz have both their first and second round pick this draft.

Looks like their second-rounder has protections on it, but is currently owned by GSW.

Still have the first.

No picks in 2011 (unless they suck):

Debits
2011 first round draft pick to Minnesota
Utah’s own 2011 first round pick to Minnesota (top 16 protected in the 2011 draft, top 14 protected in 2012 and top 12 protected in the 2013 draft). If Utah has not conveyed a first round pick to Minnesota by 2014 and also if Utah’s own 2014 first round is not within the top 9 picks, then Minnesota will have the option to swap their own 2014 first round pick with Utah’s own 2014 first round pick. If Minnesota does not receive a first round pick by the 2013 draft and also does not swap 2014 first round picks with Utah, then Minnesota will receive Utah’s own 2014 second round pick. [Minnesota - Utah, 7/13/2010]
2011 second round draft pick to Chicago
Utah's own 2011 2nd round pick to the Chicago. [Chicago - Utah, 7/8/2010]

Martin is a pipe dream. 2 more years on his deal at 11.5 and 12.5. He'll turn 28 in February. No way they deal a guy that good making that little. And if they let Yao walk, they'll have more FA money than anybody to build around him.

As much as I like Martin he's not a guy you build around and any Rockets or Kings fan would tell you the same thing. Martin is a supreme addition to a really good team with a franchise player in place. In terms of what's good for the Rockets now, there's probably no trade where they trade Martin that would come up that would do them any good. The fact that they don't have Yao and most of the truly good players on the team are aging could quickly put them in the predicament where it makes no sense to keep Martin.

And while I agree it's a pipe-dream - especially since Morey is the master of low-risk high-reward deals (at least in quantity) - the Kings traded Martin for Carl Landry. **** happens.

I think people should be careful what they wish for. You tell KOC to make a deal when the Jazz are over the cap? That usually means we lose talent to drop salary. I would rather KOC sticks with his old Internal Improvement line.

I think Houston has to re-think things now that Yao is out for another year. They need a C and might look at Tomic in a rebuilding scenario.

In fact, I think a lot of teams would look at Tomic in a rebuilding scenario. He's what, 19 or 20?

I think the Jazz should trade for Andrew W.K. and Antoine Carr. PROVE ME WRONG.

Andrew W.K. doesn't exist, bro. It's an act, like Tony Clifton -- but without the irony. So I guess more like Hopper. The Big Dog would be awesome though. Can we hire him as a coach or something? What's he doing now?

The arena lights shining off Fesenko, JJ, Kirilenko, Hayward, Okur, and Sloan would be enough to make 15/20 vision eyes loose their eye sight.

The strong arena beer makes my eyesight loosen enough. Pretty much every girl starts to look pretty after no later than the 2nd quarter. Does the lack of spectrum in the reflection do something to relax the optical nerves? Just curious 'cause I don't want my loose eyeballs to fall out while I'm drinking. Do you advise only looking at caramel girls?

Supposedly, the Magic actually are looking for a b/u Center, and with Memo returning and our short list at SG, we could/should be listening. I doubt the Magic want Okur's contract, but Elson might be a good fit for them.
I like SG Quentin Richardson off the Magic roster, as he's both a good defender and rebounder. He actually scores only 1 PPG less than Reddick, who's more limited as a defender or rebounder at only 6'4", and not that athletic. ESPN trade machine says Elson + Price for Richardson would be doable. If I'm KoC, and Okur starts to return to form, I'd be tempted...

Richardson has been an absolutely terrible defender for the Magic this year. Ask any Magic fan and they'll tell you that Redick is a far better team defensive player. I'd much rather have Redick than Q-Rich, just imagine him coming off the curl.....it'd be beautiful.
