What's new

Let's show em' how it's done in Detroit tonight

Monroe didn't make, or miss all of his shots while he was guarded by Kanter. That's why saying he was 8/18 is being intellectually dishonest in regards to Kanters defense. By Hantlers

This is weird. First I never said Kanter guarded him the entire time. I don't know how that makes me intellectually dishonest. But whatever. You cannot deny that while Kanter was in he guarded one of the three Piston bigs all of which shot less than 50% tonight. That is pretty good defense or poor shooting.

As for the other question. I do prefer Kanter to Monroe, but that was not the question. The question was do you trade Kanter and Burke for Monroe. I would not trade Kanter for Monroe straight up because you cannot re-sign Monroe. You still have a chance to re-sign Kanter for less than the max. Kanter is a restricted free agent and Monroe will be a unrestricted free agent. And, why would anyone add Burke just for the heck of it?

Clippers waived him in preseason going after some other players. We picked him up off waivers. Clippers said they were disappointed that we did that because they were going to try and resign him.

Yeah, I know. It just seems crazy that he went from waiver wire to getting meaningful minutes on the Jazz almost instantly. The scouting department was nails there. . .

Enes Kanter is like two different players right now...

Location GP MIN FGM FGA FG% 3PM 3PA 3P% FTM FTA FT% OREB DREB REB AST TOV STL BLK PF DD2 TD3 PTS

He is doing better verything playing road games... Thats a non Jazz-Like behaviour.

Why would you even mention the line then? It was inferred.

I made a weird audible to this post kinda ashamed.

The 8-18 was in regards to would I trade kanter and Burke for Monroe, not in regards to Kanter's defense tonight. But Kanter's defense tonight was better than many posters were saying.

That looked much better, when I just made copy past... Stupid internet continues to suppress people who like AL Jefferson... :( Ne etti size bu AL....

Alright.

Why do you prefer Kanter to Monroe? They seem like pretty comparable players except that Monroe has actually been an offensive hub before and a huge reason why is that he can play with others, neither thing can be said of Kanter.

Kanter is Jazz player so I'm naturally biased toward him. I think Kanter can become an offensive hub although never the passer than Monroe will be. I like the fact that kanter is a restricted free agent and that we should be able to sign him for far less than the max. I don't like how Monroe acted when his team didn't give him the max. I don't like how Monroe plays. Some times he plays like he doesn't care whether he wins or losses. Kanter may make mistakes and have low basketball IQ but I have never questioned his desire. I have questioned Monroe's desire on more than one occasion.

So I was up big cottonwood canyon alot of the day and then saw that movie nightcrawler and then went to outback steakhouse so I have not watched the game yet (have it recorded and will watch tonight)

As I'm reading this thread on my drive home I see Burke sucks, kanter sucks, hayward sucks, gobert sucks, booker sucks, burks sucks, nothing of favors, ingles was in all star form, as was exum.... and we won?
Kinda odd.

Hmm. I suppose you could make the argument that players that play but don't compete are to some extent a consequence of always being on a ****-team. Which is why I am not down with consecutive tanking years.

If Kanter can be retained for a relatively cheap price (relative to what productive bigs are usually paid) and Monroe does end up getting the max, then I'm definitely with you. I'm just not very confident of either of those things. If the price is similar, it's Monroe all day for me.

I love the guy and don't want Monroe, but Kanter's brain seems to move too slow for him to become an "offensive hub".

LOL - just another day on Jazzfanz.com

Starting to accept this. I also don't understand at all how he could be a bad post defender. He should at least be able to do that.

I still remember when he was shutting down guys like Bynum. I don't know what happened to him, if it was the weight loss or something, but he just never developed like I thought he was going to.

I'm not so sure I'm too crazy about the contract we gave Burks.

He's gotta play better.
I think the biggest issue right now is the Jazz might be better with more shooting and defense, since the offense is looking better overall and Hayward's drives and pull-ups are working out.

Here are some minor things Kanter does which really gimp his game:

-Pause for a half second after he pump fakes. He had a couple bites later in the game because they had to honor his jump shot, but he let the defense recover by pausing before he drove.

-Late jump shot contests. The ball is already in the air, and he jumps half heartedly in hopes Quin might give him a "good effort, nice try" ribbon. The basketball result is he compromised his rebounding position.

-Eye twitching. I have no idea why he does it. Maybe its a vitamin deficiency, but it needs to stop.
