What's new

Let's show em' how it's done in Detroit tonight

Starting to accept this. I also don't understand at all how he could be a bad post defender. He should at least be able to do that.

I still remember when he was shutting down guys like Bynum. I don't know what happened to him, if it was the weight loss or something, but he just never developed like I thought he was going to.

I'm not so sure I'm too crazy about the contract we gave Burks.

He's gotta play better.
I think the biggest issue right now is the Jazz might be better with more shooting and defense, since the offense is looking better overall and Hayward's drives and pull-ups are working out.

Here are some minor things Kanter does which really gimp his game:

-Pause for a half second after he pump fakes. He had a couple bites later in the game because they had to honor his jump shot, but he let the defense recover by pausing before he drove.

-Late jump shot contests. The ball is already in the air, and he jumps half heartedly in hopes Quin might give him a "good effort, nice try" ribbon. The basketball result is he compromised his rebounding position.

-Eye twitching. I have no idea why he does it. Maybe its a vitamin deficiency, but it needs to stop.

Looking at the Detroit board and it is interesting to see that they are pining for someone who can be trusted to close out games. "Someone like Hayward. . ." Hayward starting to get some calls too.

Right, so even though he isn't playing great basketball, since he is giving them those two things, it seems to be working out okay anyway. Hopefully, once he gets more comfortable with the offense, he can get back to his slashing, drawing fouls game we're used to.

I'm not sure I follow. I'm only saying Burks is a bit redundant out there right now. What you lose in slashing ability you might be able to make up in shooting or defense with a specialist.

Ahh...I thought you were paying him a compliment. 41% 3pt right now and his defense tonight was very good, IMO.

Dante has to learn how to navigate screens. When he was matched up against Jennings, they were putting him in pick and rolls every time down the court. He also has to get down into a proper defensive stance. As Jordan Farmar showed, Dante can be crossed pretty easily playing so upright.

Also, why were the Jazz going over screens set for Brandon Jennings?

He did a good job against Jennings. He's doing a much better job defending picks and rolls this year (he got buried on so many screens last year).

Nitpick: He's shooting .389 from 3 after tonight's game.

You're right. I was looking at the numbers through 6.

Nice win. The Pistons are better than their record shows and they have a good amount of talented players.
