What's new

I am starting to hate trey Burke.

I was a huge Burke supporter as well. He was clutch in college and appeared to be an actual PG who could control the offense. My main problem is he takes too many ill-advised shots and isn't improving. I think a lot hinges on how hard Burke works off the court. If he strives to improve (such as Steve Nash) and works harder than everybody else he'll play better. But as it stands he's not consistent enough.

He is too busy flashing his dong and making fun of people to actually work on his game. He is a entitled bum.

Trey will get better, and has never been that bad. I wouldn't give up on him yet. If he was coming off the bench I think Jazzfanz would like him a lot more.

I get it. I felt the same way going into tonight's game. Sitting from the sixth row changed my mind about Trey Burke though. Watching him on TV and watching him up close are two completely different experiences. Same thing goes for Enes Kanter, which I will get back to. Basically, on TV Trey looks like garbage, but when you watch him up close you can clearly see he plays really, really hard and is mentally tough as nails. I am back on the Trey Burke bandwagon so long as he can reign in his game a bit and play within himself.

Enes on the other hand is the complete opposite. On TV the last few games I was becoming a fan. Pulls some real interesting moves once in awhile. But sitting a few rows away from him gave me some new insights into his personality. Dude is lacking confidence. Seems real shook up. Based on an extremely limited sample, I came away with this conclusion about Enes: Dude needs to be told he is doing a good job constantly. He really needs praise. Early in the game he missed some shots and got a few foul calls against him and you could clearly see he was frustrated. Began to press. Then when he went to the bench he looked very mopey. Really handles criticism and negative feedback poorly. I came away a little more concerned about Enes. I realized his battles are in his head. Could go either way for him going forward if he isn't handled properly.

I agree and disagree with your post. I believe Burke is a hard worker and tough as nails. Hopefully, that is enough. There are plenty of hard worker tough as nails five foot ten inch players that aren't in the league. I hope trey is the exception.

As for Kanter, I know plenty of players that wanted, no needed confidence to play. I've heard several x-players say confidence is what separates players at this level. If I had a 22 year old 6 foot 10 player that can shoot as well as Kanter I would do whatever it took to give him confidence.

I wonder if anyone keeps stats how much shots are missed by. Trey was barely making front iron last night. If he is shooting this badly two years from now, he will not be playing in the NBA.

Also watched in on a semi-fast break last night. He was running slightly behind two of their bigs at about half court. Could not run a past them so just pulled up. Can you say "slow and short"? And no shot? Good head, good competitiveness, should excel at church ball.

Still love/have faith in Black Jesus.

I will never waiver in my allegiance to Him.

If that's the case he will lose out (especially if Exum has a Gobert-like off-season). Also, how's Neto doing? :-D

Im not playing favorites or saying ones better than the other. I hope trey pans out and i hope kanter pans out. Just reporting what i saw and how i interpreted it. I think enes will be good some day, just needs to coached a little differently. Seems sensitive.

Interesting that in both cases they have younger guys on the bench nipping at their heels. Cant be easy to deal with in either case when youre trying to establish yourself!

it was known long ago that burke sucks

the problem is, now everybody knows this and his value is not that high

My hope after last season was that he could still turn into Mike Conley. That's off the table now. He's lacking in athleticism and isn't as good a shooter as we thought after he was drafted. I can't think of any successful starting PG's that lacked those two things. Also, I'm pretty confident we have the worst starting PG in the league right now. That pretty much says it all.
