Best stuff on Netflix

I started watching American Horror Story last week. I am super super super in. I could probably write about 15 pages about the first 20 minutes of the pilot. There's a lot to unpack in that show.

It starts out strong every season and then gets crappy midway through. Season 1 was the best imo.

I'm concerned about the pace at which they are burning through plot. Jessica Lange, however, is obviously pretty fantastic in the show. I'm also always glad to see Zachary Quinto get work.

I have heard that people have different reactions to different seasons. I know I'm definitely getting all the way through the first. As a side bonus, it's guaranteed alone time since my wife can't stand any horror movies or shows at all.

I've only seen the first and latest season but I'm not impressed by the show. Nothing to spoil really but that pilot episode is by far the scariest episode of all the ones I've seen. I'd be interested in seeing what you think once the first season is over.

Not on Netflix but I just finished watching the first season of the Americans. Man that show is great. Can't wait to catch up on all of them.
 
Watched the first season of Agents of SHIELD. I thought it was pretty good. Decent binge watching fodder. Gonna downlo...uh watch some other way season 2 now.

I'm not interested in the show due to its "scariness." That's not really the metric I'm judging on and maybe that's a little weird when examining a show called American Horror Story. The pilot in particular is incredibly well made on about every technical metric you can imagine. Just the first few minutes use color in incredible ways and have interesting and intriguing camera angles (there's a semi crane shot from above a door frame while characters enter that's truly superb).

The show appears interested in telling the story of the house rather than of the people, who are essentially chess pieces that exist to be manipulated and terrified. My experience is that some people don't respond well to stories in which the persons are not the true protagonist. This is why people have passionate opinions about The African Queen for example.
