Kanter traded to OKC

I think you are assuming that because you didn't hear about it, there must not have been any offers. People have made all kinds of claims about the value of players like Boozer and Al on this site. Both guys went on to sign big deals when they left, so that probably says more about their value than which rumors we did or didn't hear.
Jazz would have traded Boozer for ANYTHING except another long-term contract. No other team has EVER let a player visit city after city while still under contract. I'm pretty confident nothing of consequence was offered for Carlos.

Jazz GM Lindsey says team must take the "long view." “The rebuild is significant and long and arduous and we’re not going to run from that.”

Lindsey: Jazz value flexibility, “can be a serious player during the draft, take in a veteran” & “chase some of the better” FAs this summer.

Dennis Lindsey says Kanter's remarks had "zero" impact on trade. (lol)

Lindsey on Gobert's leap this year: “I didn’t expect that, but you’ve got to react to it and acknowledge it a little bit.”

Jazz don't expect Grant Jerrett to be available tomorrow. Players still have to report and pass physicals.

On Jerrett: We like shooting bigs & the spacing that provides. We’re going to work really hard to develop him to the best of our abilities.

Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey on getting younger: "We’re always going to take the long view. The rebuild is significant and long and arduous."

Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey emphasized that the Jazz "value financial flexibility." He says team can be "serious player" this upcoming offseason.

Bye, #CoreFour. Hello, #BurgeoningCore. DL: "We sit here today with a very significant young player group, a burgeoning core, if you will."

Interesting possibility from Dennis Lindsey: "We can be a serious player during the draft to take in a veteran to speed up our timeline." (hmmmmmmmmm...)

Dennis Lindsey on his 3 players in Spain (Neto/Tomic/Pleiss): "I could see none of them coming, I could see all three of them coming."

Yes overpaying role players that don't have big market or players that wanted to revive their career....

Jazz always relied heavily on the draft.

Carlos Boozer and Memo Okur say hello. So do Big AL and Matt Harpring (trades).

Raja Bell, Mo Williams (2nd time), Randy Foye, Derek Fisher, Giricek...many, many major pieces who weren't draft picks.

I do maintain, however, that the BEST way to build a team is via the draft. FA's are often overpaid, sometimes significantly.

We have 4 chances to win this trade. If either of the prospects become good rotation players, if we sign a good free agent this offseason, or if we nail the first rounder. Sounds a lot better than keeping kanter and praying he learns how to pass shoot and play defense and is fine coming of the bench etc.

I'd add putting Gobert into the starting lineup and have core players that seem to fit in synder's system is also a win. I just didn't see Kanter fitting in with what we want to do. Hayward-Favors-Gobert is the future. Now to get Russell...

I begin to think that maybe DL has some Italian roots....too much bla bla bla....

It's true... We need to see if that will work long term. We removed one road block to doing that.

Omigod. Just saw what the Suns did. Feeling much better about the Kanter trade now.

They **** the bed... Thought that was the biggest story today that no one is talking about. Just seems to be no plan at all.

My goodness it seems like you are speaking about the Gasol brothers....

Other names?

We have not had many years where we had cap space and were actively looking to be buyers. That was really the only year we ve had cap space and were actually looking to acquire talent. The other time we signed Terry and a aggregate but it got matched. Players will come here.
