The Return of AB

I don't need to try to control you
Look into my eyes and I'll own you with them moves like Jordan
I've got the moves like Jordan
I've got the mo-oo-oo-oo-ves like Jordan

I look forward to a whole season of moments like the one where he destroyed Kobe on the 3 point line and drove in for the basket.

Thank you for reminding me of what we missed when Burks got injured last year. He has the potential to become one of the best finishers in the game. I still don't view him as a perfect fit in the starting lineup because: 1) he doesn't provide the 3-pt shooting that Hood does, although that might turn out to be less important depending on who the starting PG is now that Exum is injured, 2) Burks & Hayward are both most affective with the ball in their hands, & 3) Burks has the capability of singlehandedly running the second unit offense. Even if he never becomes more than our long-term sixth man, he will likely be more than worth the contract extension that he received. If he is ever able to become a consistently above average defender & 3-pt shooter, his contract could turn out to be one of the bigger bargains in the NBA. I still have some questions regarding his fit within our offensive & defensive systems, but his ability to attack the rim alone makes him an extremely valuable asset to this team. It will be very interesting to see how he returns & the impact that it has on the team during this upcoming season & beyond.

I hope Burks shows up with more muscle and strength - I look forward to him making some nice drives t the basket but he will undoubtedly get fouled hard on some occasions. Hope he's stronger to resist injury.

Also, the one where Anthony Davis attempts to guard him on perimeter. Lol.

To be fair to the brow, that's a huge mismatch in Alecs favor.

Lets get the Hype train rolling boys.

The shot at the 1:27 mark is ridiculous..... And so is the one right after it.

Return of AB10 >>> Healthy Exum

Burks was on the right track his last month even with the shoulder injury.

15.7/4.1/3.1

Dante's last month in about the same minutes.

6.4/1.1/4.4

Nice work putting up the stats on Exum. I am sure there's probably a couple people left on the planet that weren't aware that Dante was a poor offensive player last year.

People are always referencing Alec's 3 PT shooting. Do you not realize that he was our best 3pt shooter last year, hitting 38.2% at 2.7 a game. His catch and shoot #'s were especially high. His FG% was down because his injured shoulder inhibited from lifting itabove his head while finishing. Thankfully, we KNOW he is a fantastic finisher.

His areas of concern are: 1. Over-dribbling/not seeing the pass to be made. 2. Off-ball defense.

When it comes to on-ball defense, he's actually pretty legit. Couple that with his 6'6"/ 6'10" wingspan, good lateral quickness, a team who has bought into the mantra that defense wins, and half a year of watching how to defend, and I think we'll see an improved effort on that end.

Wow so Burks compares favorably to an 18 year old rookie? Great, but that should be a given. To bad the positive comparison for him only works on one end of the floor.
.
I want to see Burks flourish in this system. I think he's perfect to replace Burke as the scoring punch needed off of the bench. But I need to see him be a much better passer and defender. I am encourage by what he has said and that he was around the team a lot last year even after the injury. His coming back to the team is a huge offensive addition. I hope his defense has improved.

1. I do realize that he has made huge improvements regarding his 3-pt shooting, I just believe that (depending on who the PG ends up being) that the starting unit needs a volume 3-pt shooter in the lineup, which Hood (imo) is more capable of providing than Burks.

2. Imo, he needs to do it for more than 27 games (or however many games he played) to be considered a consistently above average 3-pt shooter.

3. Over-dribbling/not seeing the pass to be made are part of my concerns regarding his fit in our offensive system. Off-ball defense is one of my concerns regarding his fit in our defensive system.

4. I agree with what you said regarding his defensive ability & believe that he has the potential to (& eventually will) become an above average defender, I just don't think he's there yet.

Burks will never be an above average defender.

I could see him being a good isolation defender, but he has the "getting killed on screen" gene wired into his blood.

Burks gunna help upgrade this team. I think we might've gotten to the playoffs if he had been healthy all last year.
