What's new

Nikola Mirotic

Here’s a Chicago article better detailing his contract situation:

Good find. They can take Bradley and expirings... Bradley was a first round pick.

Or they can kick effing rocks. Portland and Minnesota will not want the extra year on his contract because they capped out. What team is giving them what they want.

Then we can all wait until he cools off or starts causing issues with a young team while limiting the floor time Portis and Lauri get... and ruining their tank.

Just like us demanding a first rounder for Favs without salary... we can demand it but no teams will pay it.

This is off topic but is Fournier on the block? If you can land Mirotic without Favors then I’d say sending out Favors and Hood for Fournier is a good deal.

Bradley is the easiest guy to give up in this kind of deal. Especially if he's the 1st the Bulls don't get.
I agree with this. He’s an easy asset to move if the Jazz are serious about adding Mirotic. Swap Niko for JJ and this team gets pretty damn interesting.

Mirotic is the kind of player that burns us when we play him, and when we put a jersey on him years later he's a snickers bar.

Gordon Giricek in hiding

I read an article today that said Mirotic is interested in coming to play for Snyder because he likes the way he has developed offensive players.

JJ isn't getting it done. Has to be Favors. Favors and Bradley is a good deal for both sides.

No. Mirotic is an excellent player. Not an all star, but a great compliment to Gobert and he could flourish in our system. A more athletic Memo and better playmaker, but probably not as good a shooter (though we need more career minutes to confirm this.)

The Exum trade talk is silly.

The Exum haters should take a look at how Orlando has been operating. Traded away Olidipo 2 years too soon and also didn't pick up the option on Hezonja, who now looks like he might be a decent player. Too many Exum naysayers focusing too much on stats instead of watching his development. I'd rather see the jazz gamble on keeping Exum for 4 more years than lowball him to the point he just takes the QO. That would be a mistake.
Exum has never sniffed Oladipo's production from any year.

He could become a player!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Could! But can we just look at the metrics and believe them? Also, you understand there are consequences to spending eight figures on a meh basketball player, right?

What do you prefer a stretch 4 in the draft or mirotic?

i think it's completely worth the risk given the lack of other talent we have available, and what he looked like before TJ jumped on his head. If he'd shown 4 full years of the same meh that would be different.

btw there's no way JJ is getting this deal done, why on earth would they want him.

the way Orlando are going you'd have to assume probably only Gordon would be off limits.

Fournier is under control for 3 more years at 17 (which is HUGELY valuable). No way does he get dealt for an RFA and a pure FA. If Bird Rights on either Favors or Hood were really valuable, it might be different. But the Magic have much more value with Fournier on a reasonable contract for 3 years than the RFA/Bird Right on both Hood and Favors to sign them longterm.

They wouldn’t. They’d buy him out and he can sign with a contender like the Jazz did with Kendrick Perkins. They do it for Bradley, cash and 2nd round pick(s). If that doesn’t get me t done, then you look at Favors. Not sure they want him either though.

I’d love to get Fournier, but wouldn’t want to pay premium assets to pull it off. I’d consider going after him for sure though.

I’d be interested in seeing what they want for him. Swap Fournier and Rubio in this team and things change overnight. Mitchell takes over at PG and the Jazz could add another shooter to the mix around Gobert/Favors. They’d essentially be a very similar team to the one that finished out the 2014/15 season on a tear.

Gobert, Favors, Fournier (Hayward-lite), Jingles and Mitchell (better than rookie Exum) as starters. . . Hood, Exum, Sefolosha and (healthy) Burks are light years better as a bench than Burke, Baby Sap, Booker and Withey. I’m not sure what the results would be, but I think it’d be much better than what we’ve seen so far this year.
