What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

I agree, but is Kyrie by himself better than Russell and whoever else they might be able to get alongside Russell (not to mention Kyrie will be paid much more money in a cap year)? I also think Kyrie is a cancer and not much of a winner, so, yeah, I don't know. Seems like out of all the guys on the FA market this year, that's the guy you put lowest on the max list for them.

Also, 1st rounders are only valuable when they become good players, and that is highly tied to the position of the 1st and a ton of luck. I doubt a likely-rebuilding team is parting with a top-10 pick for Dinwiddie, and if it's not that, it's a light-year from equal-value.

I don't think they can get someone big and re-sign DLo because of capholds. May have to move Crabbe if they get a yes.

If the choice was Russell or Kyrie I'd pick Kyrie without thinking. Hate has gone a little too far on him... Russell just scares me for a variety of reasons... I would not want to pay him.

On the Dinwiddie front... if they let Russell go and brought Kyrie there is still room for Dinwiddie. They wouldn't have to move him for a pick... could move him for a win now player if they wanted... just think if they decided to move him they'd have like 20 solid offers because of contract, unique skillset, and willingness to come off the bench.

I agree. The Nets aren't going to let Dinwiddie go.

Maybe... but it is how we roll.

It doesnt have to be, we can change. Maybe they are figuring out it doesnt work. Probably not...

I mean its one thing to not bring in guys with really arrest records and doing things that hurt your team image. But just not liking the type of person they are not the DNA that they want in Utah is a terrible way to pick players.

D'Angelo Russell is not going anywhere. He will be a Brooklyn Net next year. 0% they let him walk under any circumstance.

The Jazz front office is bound and determined to pick up a shooter or two as they know that will take them to the next level. We don't want no head cases or ISO dummies, we need SHOOTERS, plain and simple. They are out there somewhere.

We don't need shooters. We have shooters. We need a shot creator. Someone other than just Donovan who can create his own shot off of the dribble. That will force the defense into more difficult positions and give our shooters better looks.

Who are our shooters?

Sorry man, but you're way off here. If the Jazz were a good shooting team, they would've beaten the Rockets in 6 games or less. This is totally ignoring that we have been perpetually having a conversation about the perilous lack of spacing in the starting lineup for two seasons now.

This is a medium reward/low risk move potentially but I think it'd be worth taking a flyer on Isaiah Thomas as a 3rd string guard in the offseason too. Worst case he's busted and warms the bench with Exum's corpse, best case we get a spark plug offense guy off the bench next season.

There's obviously plenty of other moves to do before this but I think it'd be a nice icing on the cake type move at the end of an offseason.

i get where you're coming from but Isaiah is washed. Needs a hip replacement like my grandma

Of course we didn't shoot well vs Houston. Because Donovan was the only one who is a threat to break anyone down off the dribble. He's the only one that they actually had worry about guarding. Other than that they could just stay in front and play basic defense on everyone else. One way to create spacing is to have players who can break defenders down off the dribble.

You can have 5 spot up shooters on the floor at once and they wouldn't shoot for **** if none of them can create their own offense off of the dribble.

Who are our shooters?

Kyle Korver: One of the best spot up shooters in league history

Joe Ingles: Career 40.8% 3 point shooter. 44% in both 16/17 and 17/18

Thabo Sefolosha: 43.6% from 3 this season

Donovan Mitchell: 36.2% from 3 on 6.7 attempts per this season. Could shoot an even higher percentage if someone else could create and score off the bounce/be an offensive threat.

Royce O'neale: 38.6% from 3 this year

Jae Crowder: Not a great 3 point shooter overall but he is very good on spot up 3's above the break

Hell even Georges shot 41% in limited time.

We have guys who can shoot. It just means jacks*** when the defense isn't threatened by anyone but Donovan going off on them.

I'm about 80% convinced that Tobias Harris is coming to the Jazz after seeing what is going down in Philly. While part of me says "Great! Bring it!" another part thinks he isn't really our greatest need. I'm pretty sure I would rather have Jimmy Butler (if that were an option.)

I think it's all going to come down to weather or not Philly is willing to offer him the 5 year max, if they do I don't think he'll turn it down.

That is pretty easy. Philly is not going to offer him the 5 year max. Nor, probably, should they.
