Lakers-Jazz Trade

Injuries are going to happen and teams are going to underperform. I think we are going to be in great position to cash in on desperate teams as the season progresses.

I hope the Lakers deal happens, but I'm not desperate for it to go down. We are going to be an awful defensive team even with our vets, and with the brutal start to the year we will still lose a lot of games.
This peoples. Patience. If we are tanking, don't matter when we trade our assets, as long as it's before the trade deadline.

The Jazz and OKC both have immediate problems of too many guaranteed contracts on the roster (17 each) and too many Exhibit 10 signees. Both teams need to dump some players to legally open training camp.

Miami or Phoenix would give us an unprotected 1st for Bogey in a millisecond. He’s one of the most efficient scorers and one of the best shooters in the league. Any contender would love to have him he’s the perfect piece to put you over the top.

I wanted to talk about this a little more in case a Lakers deal doesn’t happen.

Bogey for Jae Crowder + Landry Shamet + 2024 unprotected 1st

This works salary wise and it is almost identical salary both ways we only gain 133k. Crowder has an expiring contract and would have value to a contender at the trade deadline. Shamet has a 4-year contract but the third year is non-guaranteed and the fourth year is a team option. It could essentially be a 2/19.75M contract if you wanted it to be. We gain a 2024 1st which is one of the only years we don’t have multiple firsts in.

Bogey for Duncan Robinson + 2028 or 2029 unprotected 1st

This works salary wise and we save 2.6M this year which gives us a little more wiggle room under the tax for other deals. That Robinson contract is really bad though. The last year of his contract is only 9.88M guaranteed. It is essentially 4/63.5M remaining on his deal. For Miami to get off that terrible salary and gain an extremely valuable player in Bogey they will have to pay dearly with a far out unprotected 1st.

I think I’d lean towards the Miami deal for the extremely valuable pick. Robinson could be a decent reclamation project for us. His deal isn’t as bad when the cap rises. The Phoenix deal is great too but I’m not sure we need to gain extra players. I’m not extremely worried about not doing a consolidation trade because we could easily trade someone like Stanley Johnson into someone’s cap space like Boston for a 2nd or something like that.

I've talked to a lot of Jazz fans who have said if Westbrook plays a second for the Jazz, they are former fans.
yeah and millions of nfl fans say they are never watching another game because of all the anthem kneeling. and yet attendance and ratings soar.

If we make a deal for Duncan Robinson, I think I’d want Jovic out of the trade.

Unfortunately. I was really hoping the insurrectionist supporters would follow through and go away.

Yes, With Robinson and top 10 protected pick or a swap and some 2's.
Yeah. Don’t think you’re going to get a future unprotected pick to get off Robinson’s contract. Bogey for Robinson, Jovic and their unprotected 23 pick is probably about as good as you can get.

I don’t agree. That is a really terrible contract that is crippling them to make any kind of move to get better now and in the future. They need to pay significantly to get off of it.

If we can trade Bogey for Jovic and an unprotected 28 or 29 1st than the Jazz should to that right away. We really need to make these 2 for 1 trades. We got to dump a few guys. Maybe send them Stanley as well.

They don't like that Robinson contract, but they don't not like it that much, I think. Herro has significant value.
Yeah, I agree we would probably need to give up more. I think its possible if we were sending them a couple of our better veterans but the salaries get too tricky. They want off the Robinson contract for sure, I also think they dont want Herro that much but he does still have some decent value and I think they are hoping to trade him and other stuff for a higher level player. He is only 22 but he was really bad in the playoffs the last couple years.
