Jazz trade John collins

This seems to be a move to open up cap space, but which RFAs or FAs are we going after? The notable RFAs are Kuminga, Giddey, Cam Thomas, and Grimes. I would want to go after Giddey.
Meh, convert it to a big trade exception we can use after next year's draft. You will get better deals from teams scrambling to get out of the apron selling off players for capspace.

Giddey is going to want $30M AAV on a long deal. I think I like him more than most, but that is a heavy investment.

Im not surprised the Jazz got off Collins/Clarkson/Sexton, but I am kind of surprised at the speed in which it happened. I thought this might be a thing that dragged into late July. Does make me wonder if they expedited it to be a player in the RFA game or if they just wanted the monkey off their back ASAP.

Yeah, from what I read the Bulls want him at or under 25 per, and Giddey wants the Suggs contract (like you said 30 per year).

I think I would be OK with paying him 30 per year. He had a 3.0 BPM with the Bulls, and I wouldn't call his teammates great. Averaged 20-10-10 in the last two months of the season (obviously the least impressive time to do that, but still impressive). Was also the only player on the Bulls to show up for the play in game.

Just think he's kind of a perfect fit given the lack of playmakers we have, and he's become a reliable wide open shooter. He just kind of makes everyone the roster make more sense together in a way not a lot of obtainable players can.

Kuminga does too... I have bad news for both of them.

We finished 30th in defense in back to back seasons.

No to giddey. We do not want 100 million tied to lauri, giddey, and walker.

Unless you trade walker
Who else we going to pay in the next 4 years? Walker is the only upcoming RFA we have to worry about. He's 22 coming off a career season. Seems like the kind of smart risk to take. I just dont think it's really realistic given teh Bulls will probably just match whatever we can come up with.

Depends on what they want to do with Walker but it will be basically max or ability to get to max very easily.

There aren't going to be FAs you would want to max out though. Partly a guess based on which guys get extended. I would bet its more a thing where we would take someone's slightly overpaid good player or take on more bad salary, rather than land a big FA. Austin Reaves maybe... but do you want AR at 35-40M a year? Trae Young might be another candidate if he does not extend.
You’re forgetting Luka!

Both Anderson and Love are high bbiq players who can teach our young players how to run a play in a slow, half court setting. I think there's a pretty decent chance we keep them around just to serve as mentors.

I think the Bulls will hold their nose and match the contract. Still think the Jazz should kick the tires and see what happens.

Kuminga and Giddey are basically in the same boat as players/prospects. Think I’d prefer Giddey just because of the type of player he is. We are over indexed on prospects with low IQ and want to score.
