14th Tank Platoon

I think I stated the numbers were rounded. Gobert, Neto and Pick #2 are in at $1.5M. So that actually brings it down to $57.5M.

Yes, I see what you are saying about "MAX" players. But given articles that Hayward wanted "somewhat less" than George and he and the Jazz were several million apart, I'm thinking "worst case" is $13M. If someone steps up and offers $15M, Jazz would be insane to match (even $13M should give them pause).

Gotcha. Either way, it will be interesting to see what happens. 4/50 would be a decent contract and wouldn't bankrupt the Jazz.

Agree. I think the Jazz will match ANY offer for Hayward. And when I say that, I think Lindsey will go MAX if he needs to. Don't necessarily agree with paying him that much, I just think the Jazz have really no tax worries until it comes time to re-up Favors and Hayward and Burks, Burke, Kanter, Gobert, etc. are all off their rookie deals.

I don't think the Jazz would match a max offer, but then I also don't think Hayward will get a max offer. I do think it's pretty likely that (a) the Jazz will match whatever offer he gets, and (b) the bulk of the people here on jazzfanz (myself included) will feel that they overpaid.

I'll be fine with that, if we get Parker/Wiggins, though.

Not really though because Monroe has been starting over 75% of the games he has played. NBA teams know who he is for the most part.

Enes is still largely a mystery I think because of his inconsistency. Looked really good last year before his injury, looked awful to start this year, then took half the year to start looking good again.

Yeah, but I meant it in a sense of:
Both Enes and Monroe look like they're going to be guys who operate from the high post/elbow a lot. Monroe drives it right now successfully, Enes shoots it when the defense is late and sometimes putts it on the floor.
Both aren't explosive enough to be good defensively. Their defense consists of grabbing rebounds mainly.

Yeah, thats kind of my point.

They knew they were going to be without Peyton Manning and intentionally went with a roster that included no NFL calibre QB's. That's tanking from an organizational level, and I think that is totally acceptable.

BTW, the Colts started the season 0-13 that year, then when they were already assured the #1 pick they won 2 games in a row.

Everyone knew what they were doing and it was the right thing for them to do.

But the thing you could argue with the Colts is they had no need to groom a good backup with Manning (before he was injured he may have been the most durable QB in NFL history) and they went and got Kerry Collins who was an OK QB at one time. That being said I don't think there was a QB on the market that would have gave the Colts anything but the worst record in the league.

And a small nitpick, but if the Colts would have won their last game against the Jags they would have got the #2 pick. Thank god they didn't.

a) Agree
b) Inevitable

The next 11 day are going to be BIG!

I don't think the Cavs have any intension to tank what so ever. They fired their GM and are on a 4 game winning street. They will beat the 76ers, hopefully they can do some damage against the east PO teams and than beat us on Feb, 28.

The 76ers are too bad! At this point I just hope they lose against the Cavs and the Magic so they don't mix things up.

Now Orlando is a different ball game. They have some talent and if we play our cards right we somehow could be worser than they are. They could win 3 in a row and they actually wanna beat NYK because of the draft pick situation. And as I mensioned above because the Cavs have no intension to lose it wouldn't be bad if the Magic can get a W in that game as well.

I'm not talking bout dem Bucks no moe.

We have to lose all of the next games.

The Kings, Lakers and Celtics situation sucks!

best case scenario:

#1: Milwaukee Bucks
#2: LA Lakers
#3: Philadelphia 76ers
#4: Utah Jazz
#5: Orlando Magic
#6: Boston Celtics
#7: Sacramento Kings

worst case scenario:

#1: Milwaukee Bucks
#2: LA Lakers
#3: Philadelphia 76ers
#4: Orlando Magic
#5: Boston Celtics
#6: Sacramento Kings
#7: Utah Jazz

And I don't see us passing the Cavs or some other team. We'll at least get the 7th. Sucks though...

I don't think thats the worst case scenario. Jazz will probably end up around 7-8, but they are at 7 now and are 1 game away from being 9th, so they can definitely end up around 10. I think worse case is 10 though.

10th would mean we'll pass the best non PO team out of the east and that would be the Pistons and the Knicks. The Knicks have not a draft pick so they wanna win, the Pistons just let there coach go because they wanna reach the POs and the Cavs wanna win as well. Now if they don't start intentionally losing I don't see us passing them. Especially with our up comunig schedule in March!

So I think the 7th bad record is safe but that's just me.
