Certainly. Defense matters a lot, but so does offense. Hamilton's offense is about the equivalent of Singleton's defense, Singleton's offense is about the equivalent of Hamilton's defense. I'd probably give the edge to Singleton, but if he doesn't become a decent shooter in the NBA then that can be a serious problem.

There is no such thing as a lockdown wing defender in the NBA. Tony Allen might be the best wing defender in the game today, and he even doesnt shut down players every night. On the flip side, dead eye shooters can always shoot and are always a threat to shoot. You take defenders at the 4 and 5 where they can more of an impact. A good defender at SF isnt going to help as much as a great shooter at the 3.

You're so far off-base here. Singleton is virtually flawless as a defender. He's that good. Hamilton on the other hand is rife with offensive issues. He is mediocre, at best, off the dribble, can't finish well off the dribble, has a terrible mid-range game, and has poor shot selection. Add in the fact that he's a poor defender and why the hell do we want him? Great, he may turn into a great scorer in this league. But we don't know that given his offensive flaws. We do know that he sucks on the defensive end and that championship teams typically have strong defensive players. We also know Singleton is about as good as you get defensively, while still improving wildly this year in virtually every offensive category. Heck he shot 36.8% from three while Hamilton shot just 38.5%. Yes, Hamilton shot many more attempts per game but again, his shot selection is very questionable which brings his efficiency as an offensive player and shooting percentages down very much so.

Don't get me wrong. I like Hamilton in some ways. But I'd rather take Singleton.

Yes, certainly we do. By the way i am a FSU alum! I just dont know about him that high. Now i will give him the benefit of the doubt because he had just come back from injury, but he was a nonfactor for FSU in the tournament.

They do seem close, it comes down to the teams though; SDSU was ranked 4th in the nation prior to March Madness, while FSU was much worse. Despite this, they both made it to the Sweet 16, its just that Leonard got plenty more coverage, hence Singletons stock is worse. Seeing as he averages mroe blocks, steals, higher 3point attempts and percentage, I feel like he suits our team more. One might look at the assists, but you have to remember that FSU was rated as having the 130th best offense in the NCAA...

I think KOC will strongly consider Singleton, seeing as he adresses both our 3point shooting needs and (more importantly) our defensive woes, all while filling our biggest gap at the SF spot. I am extremely fond of Singleton at the twelve, rondo was an underestimated late first round pick who became an allstar. Not suggesting Singleton is as well, but he is definitely a player we seriously need. I have joined the Singleton fanclub.

They are very similar players. Leonard is younger, more efficient, and a better rebounder. Singleton has the better NBA body and is a defensive disruptor. Neither will be great shooters in the NBA, and I think after watching the Mavs dismantle the Lakers on good shooting we can't afford to have another Brewer on the wings. So am not crazy about either pick. Would rather try and get Barnes or another one of the great wings coming out next year.

Chris Singleton seems like another Ronnie Brewer to me. Great defender, has no jumpshot, I wouldn't take him at #12, but maybe if the Jazz traded down a little bit I would consider him.

At #6, I want either Knight or Walker whichever one is available, but if they both were available somehow I would definitely take Knight. Who knows hopefully the Jazz will get some luck on their side and get a top three pick. The draft lottery is only eight days away, the days couldn't come fast enough.

Another hyopthetical question is, what if the Jazz get the #3 pick, Irving and Williams are gone who do they take?

To shoot 38.5% from downtown with a poor shot selection is pretty good. Imagine if he selects his shot better. Hayward shot what, 28% from downtown his sophomore season, largely due to bad shot selection.
