2011 NBA Draft revisited...

This is the one draft where the two players I really wanted the Jazz drafted. And I'm still happy with the draft for the most part. Granted Leonard would have been a better pick, but Burks is not bad for where the Jazz got him, and I still think Kanter can be a solid player.

I'd definitely move JV up the list. Knight is way too high. And I'm not sold on Kemba. Yes, he scores 17 pts/per. His FG% is also <40%. He's inefficient.

I was happy with both picks. Still high on Burks and HOPE Kanter can turn into a quality starter under Quin.

In the spirit of draft time, just for the hell of it, I was looking back at the last time we had a top 5 pick in the draft (2011) and how our #3 pick Enes Kanter compares to other players in that draft today. Overall, a pretty sad/weak draft. Based on production here's how I see where those players rank today:

1. Kyrie Irving
2. Kawhi Leonard
3. Klay Thompson
4. Chandler Parsons
5. Nikola Vucevic
6. Isaiah Thomas
7. Kemba Walker
8. Brandon Knight
9. Kenneth Faried
10. Alec Burks
11. Enes Kanter
12. Markieff Morris
13. Tristan Thompson
14. Jonas Valanciunas
15. Derrick Williams
16. Iman Shumpert
Everyone else: Scrubs

Going into that draft, Irvin, Williams and Kanter were the consensus top 3. Only Irving lived up to the hype. Williams is a bust, and Kanter is still learning to play the game.
Thoughts?

Jonas V needs to be much higher. Probably #4. Also move Isaiah Thomas and Brandon Knight down a little.

give me your honest answer, would you draft Kanter over Jonas knowing what you see now?
Nope. Jonas is a safer bet right now for sure.

I'd put Thomas, Thompson, Vucevic (in no particular order) and possibly Parsons and Kemba ahead of Val.

Nobody wanted to trade up in that draft because there wasn't any top-tier talent besides Kyrie. So, how exactly could we have traded back?

I don't agree with Hack b/c taking a shot on a body the size of Kanter was the right risk to take. That said, I wanted either Klay and then Kawhi at the spot we took Burks. KOC could have easily traded back to grab both.

Kanter and burks are the only two players from that draft that were "corbined"
Have to take that into consideration

The new Sloanfeld, everybody.

Finally someone who values Thomas rightly.

But why you guys value Thomas so much? He seems like huge liability on defense to me.
