2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

Here is the Conley trade I'd like:

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yanfxo4l

We'd send a lotto protected first for 2019 that converts into two seconds... Charlotte sends a top 10 protected first.

We get Conley and Green to soak up some of Favs minutes. He is traditional sized for PF but is shooting the three well. In particular he is shooting 47% from the corner this year (39% overall).Does some of the same defensive stuff but not the rim protector Favs is... can move his feet and rebound. Keep his cap hold on the books and use MLE if you want to address other needs in FA.

I think we need a bigger PF upgrade than Green. Although I do like Green.

Once we get Conley, we have to have a solution at PF too. We can't rely on free agency or the MLE. That's why we have to trade for Porter, Harris, Bjelica, even Stanley Johnson over just staying put.

We can absolutely rely on MLE and FA for a stretch 4... or stick with Green and Crowder. Bjelica was signed for less than MLE last year and Stanley won't get the MLE this offseason. Green/Crowder/Thabo at the 4 fits fine imo... Udoh backup center... hell maybe Tony Bradley plays a minute or two.

Hot take... Green is better than Bjelica... because defense matters too.

I'm moving towards more on board with the Conley trade if we get Green too.

Was thinking through matchups and GS came to mind. Conley is good on Steph and will make him work. DM is smaller but has done well on Klay. KD is always a problem, but Green could take a shift there.

With Conley/DM/Ingles creating we don't need much from the 4 other than shooting and defense. I don't think we come close to beating GS... but if you are looking at matchups I'm not sure the small back court hurts us much and if we got a shooting 4 that didn't have us take a huge step backwards... it ain't bad.

Conley offers aren't going to be fantastic.

getting conley would be such a shortsighted move imo both from a competitive and financial standpoint. he doesn't move the needle enough to compete with GSW + that's a tiny backcourt, he's injury-prone on the wrong side of 30. doesn't jive with me. a better starting 4 man is the most important piece to obtain.

The good news is the Wizards have a tough schedule which will result in losses and will likely make them more open to trading Porter.

GS
Magic (Argh)
Spurs
Cavs (come on, Alec!)
Pacers
Bucks
Hawks (Crud)

Hoping they only go 3-5 at best. The good news is the three 'easy games' are all away games - Orlando could well beat them - not holding my breath for Cleveland though. Atlanta... who knows (wishful thinking).

Last year was different. Only a few teams had money. Bargain deals were everywhere. People will get overpaid this summer.
