2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

I was listening to some national podcast this week (I can't remember which, maybe Lowe Post???) who said they would not be surprised if Atlanta moved Taurean Prince if a good offer came down. This surprised me as I figured Atlanta would see Prince as a building block, but assuming the person knew what they were talking about: 1) How would Prince fit with the Jazz (I haven't watched him much)? 2) What would you offer for him?

1) I have heard good things about Prince, but never really watched him. Seems to have a good outside shot, and has a reputation as a decent defender (might just be based on looks rather than production). I know he has not been in a winning situation and I wonder if he would have a big increase in production/quality if moved to the Jazz.
2) I don't think we really have much Atlanta would be interested in. He is a great contract because of his cheap rookie deal this year and next, and then restricted rights after that. I guess we could offer something like a 1st and O'Neal or Allen, but I don't know why they would take that. I really don't know what Atlanta would value (more cap space, picks, vet presence?).

I think hes a good or elite role player and they likely don’t want to pay him a premium in a couple years if they aren’t further along in the rebuild.

They’d want a first... they have a lot of cap space... I don’t know if just abfirst does it but that’d be a decent move. Only cheap for one more year after this, but you could get him and still add pieces in FA.

Interesting... if it was just Austin rivers the player I’d be cool with adding him... the fact that his personality and lockeroom presence is tough to deal with make him a “no thanks” for me. Memphis is a weird situation for him imo.

Tell me how this would improve our offense? Linsane...

I was just saying that if we had to use Rubio for a deal that improves us elsewhere, I would love to go get Lin. So for example...

Rubio and Niang for Hardaway and Ntilikina

then

Thabo, lesser contracts, 2nd rounder for Lin

I don’t quite understand that trade, please elaborate.

Two separate trades. We start DM, THJ, Ingles, Crowder and Gobert. Bring Lin off the bench with the 2nd unit. It's asking a good bit from DM, but we aim to start off each game with a strong offensive lineup.

The DNA isn't a problem, it's the Nets owning his restricted rights and having 50 million in their coffers this summer.
And they intend to spend that cap elsewhere. And they haven’t extended him, but they extended a guy that plays his position. And his caphold is going to be significant.

There is a real scenario they lose him for nothing.
