2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

I knew I was right. No one can answer why. The reason is our coach has got awful ideas. We need a new coach most of you agree. But because you all like quin so much. U can't go against him lol.

I love how you have to resort to responding to your own posts because everyone is ignoring your awful takes.

I don’t know if Washington is more or less likely to trade OP given the Ariza deal. They’ve eliminated some of their future salary concerns. I do wonder if Sacramento gets involved there. They can get Washington out of the tax this year and give them a couple pieces... none better than favors... but they could do shump and Koufus and I think that gets wiz out of the tax and gets them two useful rotation players.
Good point about the tax. The Wizards are likely to be in the tax in the future, so avoiding it this year (and putting off the repeater tax) would be huge from a profits stand point. However, I think the GM is more likely to keep his job if they make some noise in the playoffs than if they just get under the tax, so I think he would push the Favors deal. Of course, the Wizards are only 5.5M over the tax, so I bet there is a way to structure a trade where they either get under the cap or close enough that they can do so with a separate deal.

As for Ariza, I think he makes OPJ more expendable.

We've continued to go back to George Hill as being mutually exclusive from Rubio and maybe we're missing the mark. What if we sent Exum over for Hill? I could see a Rubio/Hill tandem actually working out pretty good.

If we got Jeremy Lin (who I like) or Collison, what happens with Rubio? Do we just dial back his minutes? What happens this summer when we have 3 meh options at PG in Rubio, Collison/Lin and Neto? Do we have the guts to let all three go for the chance at a new adventure?

If we can find a trade for Rubio, I love the idea of trading for Lin.

Tell me how this would improve our offense? Linsane...

I’m also not sure if the repeater tax is a huge concern since they decided not to pay Oubre. I think he is more available with the Ariza addition.

Lin as a backup creator would help... he’s really efficient... TS% is super high for a guard. He can create at a pretty high level and shoots a lot of FTs and three pointers.

Health is a concern but he’s useful for sure. He shouldn’t be a Rubio replacement though.

That ship sailed... to Milwaukee... they won’t want Exum salary.

So back to this point. Here is what I would say to this question of who might have interest in Favors:...

Good list. I don't think the Phili and Miami scenarios are likely, and I think Favors would be a little repetitive with Zeller in Charlotte, but I can see why the other teams would be interested. As for the Jazz perspective, I can see them being interested in what the Knicks (THJ), or Lakers have to offer.

I apologize if you were not implying that Favors was a top 40 player. Many times, people use some stat to overvalue or devalue a player. When it comes to Favors, this happens all the time. He's not a top 40 NBA player. He's probably not even a top 100 NBA player.

If he played on most rosters, he would be playing behind other players. His best spot would be center on some team with talent from 1-4. If you put him on Washington or Golden State, he would be excellent in that role but still the 5th best player on that particular team.

Is this based on how he produces, or just a subjective evaluation?
