I think that’s a bit unfair to Gasol. He was the second best player by far on a team that won two titles. Robinson was a key contributor on one. They were solid both ways.

Gobert might be efficient but he’s sort of a nonfactor on offense imo especially against someone like Robinson who was long and fairly bouncy. Malone, while physically muscular, was pretty soft when it mattered most.

Gobert approaches useless offensively in a context where there isn’t spacing.

To be fair Malone carried more than his fair share of the load. With this team he will have more freedom. He'll perform better.

And "soft" meant 30 ppg, 12 rpg, all NBA and all defender teams and finals trips in his primary. Hell he carried an undermanned team to the finals 2 years in a row at an age when most players are consensus nearly washed up. I think you discount him too much.

Hence my floor spacers. And in the first unit the defense will be too focused in on the other 4 threats that all require double teams. Gobert will get more then his share of dunks. Then pair him with embiid for a while. No problem.
 
However this will finish, I'm sure it have been an high level and very competitive match-up.
I only regret to have had such a great match at the first round: one of us have to be eliminated, not so easy...

This one I went back and forth on plenty of times. LogGrad98 you put together a great team, Troat Guru too. I didn’t want to vote against either team, this one could have gone either way.
