2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

Ed hasn’t played in a while , last night I thought he might get some garbage time ... but Snyder went back to Bradley ...

Surely there is something in the works to flick him... or maybe no one wants him ?

Ed must of taken a whiz in Quin's Wheaties to not even get off the bench in a 30 point blowout. Dude might be packaged for something, but not sure which. Just utterly amazing.

He got smoked by a hard screen... I mean he was going hard at least... Ariza would have a better chance surviving spot minutes in the playoffs than Niang.
He didn't get smoked. He got banished to sunken realm.

And it depends on the matchup. Ariza wouldn't have played in last year's playoffs when we needed shot making.

We’re a different team than last year, but did you see Niang get laid out hard on a screen chasing TJ McConnell last night? It made me think of this.

It’s more insulting to the put a vet in for garbage time play... not an indicator of anything at all.

No, I fell asleep 10 minutes before the game. Goddamn the time difference.

But the thing is I believe what we need most is a switchy defender but Ariza isn't that guy anymore. He is still tall, he still knows where to stand, where to rotate but he is slow and he can't keep up and almost all of his shots are wide open 3s but he isn't punishing on teams for leaving him open. If he was playing elite defense like he used to, you go out and get him but he isn't.

Niang's defensive shortcomings are obvious but his value is elsewhere. Ariza's value is in his defense so of course he is going to be evaluated differently.

Brutal stretch for Davis there. I feel bad for him. What should be a solid backup role on an obvious contender became a string of DNPs and questioning his fit/desire/heart. They need to let him go so he can get some PT elsewhere where he feels more part of the team.

Its outside your point I know, but to be fair it was an illegal screen that wasn't called

Either trade or release. Problem is we don't have many big men beyond Bradley, so we would need depth there.

They are probably trying to trade him, but under no scenario do you release him... you release him and you pay his salary but can't trade it. He's a depth piece if he can't be moved... his own poor play has landed him here... he's a bad fit, but he also wasn't playing well. He has been serving as a mentor and he won't be a locker room problem. Trade him next year when his contract is expiring.

Good point. Was thinking he wasn't guaranteed for some reason, but yeah, agreed.
