2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

BING -F********- O

It sounds nice, but the same could be said about most teams in the league. Portland is currently out of the playoffs, and at their best they can beat any team in the league, in any venue. Same with San Antonio, New Orleans, Phoenix and maybe Sacramento.

Jazz haven't beaten Denver or Lakers, at home or away.

For me, as long as a guy can ball I don't care what he does. A player can be the nicest guy you ever know but **** his pants whenever he touches a basketball. I still wouldn't want him on my team

If we would have traded for Sprewell in the mid-90's, we would have won a title. He's the type guy we needed to beat MJ and company.

WE COULD beat those guys... maybe... like 1 out of 7/8 times... you don't make changes.

Our record against good teams is awful. We just played a team with a huge rest disadvantage, at home, and they had like 5 rotation players/starters out. Add to it that one of their starters had a historically bad shooting night... and yet we lost.

Last night was a lot of DM... it was just one game... but everything points to this team being a cute story first round exit. There was a reason we started the season with Joe on the bench... the current starting lineup makes less sense than two other potential versions of the starting lineup. Joe has no pick and roll partner in the second unit and Mike can't run pick and roll with Rudy... he sucks at it.

The best option is to bring Mike off the bench, which will hurt JC a bit, but you won't lose Joe/Rudy... Royce is a much better option with the starters... they need his defense and rebounding.

We likely win 50 games because we will beat bad opponents... but right now I'd be worried against any of the top 7 west teams. The theory behind us being a contender was we don't have the top end talent but the parts fit so well that we will be better than the sum of the parts and we will be great defensively too... neither of those things are true currently and the opposite is happening those guys work against each other now.

The team needed to reconfigure... it would have been ballsy so I get why we didn't do it. But to ignore our other warts (GM and coach) and just keep rolling with status quo is dumb. Need to try something new in the rotations or bring in some new options. Let's see what happens in the buyout market.

We can beat good teams. Don't be fooled by our record against them so far. A huge chunk of that record came at the start of the season when Quin was experimenting with nothing but iso offense and the offense completely sucked.

Then we let a few get away in this stretch where we've been in a funk that we had multiple opportunities to win despite not playing well.

Don't confuse haven't with can't.

We have a lot of chemistry stuff to figure out for sure. No question. But we're talented enough that it's more logical to believe that we eventually figure it out than it is to believe that we don't. We just have a lot of key pieces trying to adjust on the fly.

We're top 10 in offense and defense. That's a mark of a true contender. Historically teams don't win titles without being top 10 in both. And we haven't even played to our ceiling yet. Not even close.

I like him a lot. I’ve now decided to pin all my hopes on him being brought up and be the second coming of Zion.

If Brantley can hit one 3pt shot, grab 3 or 4 rebounds, and play some defense in 8-10 mins/night, he's worth putting on the floor.

He's not Zion, but he can be Paul Millsap.

We can beat them... but don't be fooled by what actually happens when we play them? We've played good teams the last 5 games... that's not early in the schedule... the teams have had key injuries... we got beat 5 times.

We don't have to deal in the hypothetical anymore guys... we have actual data... Guess what is one of the biggest indicators that a team will have playoff success? Yup... their record against good teams.

Every team deals with chemistry stuff... every team has injuries... every team brings in new players... these aren't good enough excuses. Anyone that says we can beat any team is guessing.

I like the Jazz's ability to gameplan for teams in an extended series. They don't really do that during the rs. However, the Jazz need real NBA athletes on the floor, or they're going to get run over by physical teams.

Niang's defense is an issue. We have two seasons of data on this now... it can't be pinned on just Jeff Green. We are 9 pts per 100 possessions worse on defense with him on the court... this year and last... we are 5 pts worse on offense this year... last year we were only slightly worse.

I've seen enough... Brantley doesn't even have to make his threes, just play defense, rebound, and bring energy.

If Brantley isn't ready then we should bring in someone who is... or try Morgan out there... hell go full G League @homeytennis style and use them both with the second unit. JC just gonna dribble around and find shots anyway... put those guys out there and tell them to fight like mother ****ers if they want to stay with the team.

Why? because we beat OKC in a series before the NBA world knew how damaging his **** was... We beat a Clips team that ended up folding and didn't have Blake (we didn't have Rudy either), but that Jazz team was very good and complemented each other quite well.

Houston and GS deep dicked us... those were the "contenders"... I think Quin is good and will help us, but Carlisle, Stotts, vogel, Doc are no dummies either.

We in trouble.
