2020 NBA trade deadline discussion

Perimeter D.

Ah. Defense may start from the outside and work itself in but it’s dependent on having a good defensive center for the most part, especially in a league where perimeter players can do pretty much whatever they want...and Bradley sucks.

Players that didn't get moved that its kinda surprising...

- Baynes
- Thompson (though he's got a big number)
- Courtney Lee (expiring deal that could have been turned into something I would think)
- Markieff Morris
- Meyers Leonard or Olynyk (maybe one was in those trades... didn't see)
- Knicks expirings
- Bulls players (like none of them)

Anyway... the volume of deals was a lot less than I expected.

In fairness to the Cavs, when you can spend 75 million on Drummond, Thompson and Love, you have to do it.

I agree. I expected all of these guys to be dealt or nearly dealt but there was almost zero chatter on these guys the last 48 hours.

Like does someone here actually think it would be foolish to trade NWG? He’s 25.5 years old and looked awful when we’ve seen him. What’s the likelihood he’s ever going to develop into more than a #3 point guard?
If/when we decline to waive NWG for someone on the buyout scrap heap, you’re going to see some guys surface with this argument, alleging that if DL & Co. didn’t see reason to waive him for one of those guys, then there’s obviously some magical genius to it, because there’s no way a GM of a professional sport gets that call wrong when going up against some guy on a message board from New Jersey. Unless we’re talking about some other team’s GM, then those guys can be outsmarted by Internet clowns, but not us. No. That’s silly.

Baynes is the big surprise. It sounded like numerous teams were interested. Phoenix evidently didn't receive an offer they liked, despite the fact they stink and Baynes is a free agent this coming offseason.

Sprewell never wanted to be famous. He just wanted to play ball. He was rough around the edges, but he was absolutely phenomenal for the Knicks in their run to the Finals. That was one of my favorite teams to watch. Those guys played so much above their fighting weight all playoffs. So much heart and desire in that team.

He was an imperfect person, but the whole PJ thing ended up defining him. Kind of unfair really, but that's how it works sometimes.
For me, as long as a guy can ball I don't care what he does. A player can be the nicest guy you ever know but **** his pants whenever he touches a basketball. I still wouldn't want him on my team

Not gonna lie. No idea what your take is on all this.

Rockets and spurs small lineups killed us because they were designed to neutralize a good defensive center like Rudy by forcing him to guard out onto the perimeter knowing that our perimeter defender couldn't guard a chair.
