2020 Presidential election

Has anyone thought that maybe, just maybe, Trump is just trolling everyone harder than anyone has ever been trolled before?

Sure. Which would make him a horrible president and a horrible douchebag of a person.
Since I already thought that about him I could certainly see him just trolling as it totally fits with what a human like him would do.

If the goal of the electoral college is to keep incompetent, unintelligent, and unqualified demagogues from the White House then it’s failed miserably. And if you don’t think Bush II was that then you have an awful a terrible memory.

Remember?

* Embattled In a crucial primary with John McCain, Bush II resorted to racist dog whistles by accusing McCain of fathering an illegitimate black child. Most historians speculate that this cost McCain South Carolina and potentially the nomination.
This wasn’t the only time Bush engaged in gutter tactics to win an election. In the 2004 general he sided hard right to fan the flames of nationalism. The LGBT community and those opposed to the Iraqi War were demonized. His campaign’s slandering of Kerry’s military service was disgusting.

So dog whistling racism and demeaning a veteran’s Vietnam military experience? Who does that sound like?

* “We don’t want the first sign of Iraqi WMDs to be a mushroom cloud.” That fear mongering while lying about WMDs in Iraq led to the most disastrous American foreign policy decision since Vietnam. Even most of our allies, former ambassadors, and common sense spoke against the invasion. Hussein didn’t want to admit that he didn’t have WMDs anymore because he wanted to keep the Iranians thinking that he did. Even once Hussein offered to let inspectors back in we invaded.

An administration that lies in foreign policy leading to disastrous consequences? Hmmm. Who does that sound like?

* Remember Abu gharib? And Advanced Interrogation techniques? The Black Sites in Egypt and Libya where we interrogated and tortured prisoners indefinitely? Spying on American citizens? Have we really forgotten this so soon? Jane Meyer has a fantastic book about this if you’re interested in learning about this history.

Locking people up and treating them like animals? Sound familiar?

* The incompetence of the administration’s response to Katrina. Just like Puerto Rico!

* Massive government expansion and handouts to cronies. I know that Mar-a-Lago is obviously directly connected to Trump, and he’s enriched every weekend he spends there. But have we so soon forgotten Bush’s crony administration? Giving lobbyists key positions over industries they’re supposed to regulate, handouts to oil companies, charters, and Big Pharm (google Medicare part D), and key military contracts to Halliburton and Blackwater. Seriously guys, we’ve forgotten this already?

I get that Trump is in a league of his own. Bush has a soft spot for immigrants. He at least had the foresight to recognize that alienating Hispanics was going to be devastating to the GOP. He was also a lot more likable than trump. But let’s not pretend that Bush wasn’t instrumental in creating the environment which led to Trump. Let’s not pretend that Bush wasn’t Trump lite. Let’s not pretend that if it wasn’t for Trump, we’d all still be listing Bush as the worst president of our lifetimes.

If the EC kept incompetent, unintelligent, and unqualified demagogues from the White House, then it would’ve kept Bush far from it.

“Thrill, remind me again why I should vote against all republicans, not just Trump.”

Seriously, does the state whose GOP just gave us Roy Moore last election, really have nothing better to do?

@Catchall

You must’ve been so furious with this socialism, that you couldn’t even comment about it on this website, right?

Not furious at all, as it's a consequence of a bitter China trade war. Besides, I much prefer subsidizing independent farmers to regulating and centralizing food production in favor of massive and corrupt genetically-modified food companies like Monsanto (as was happening under Obama).

Wow, that's an amazingly horrible, anti-capitalist take on food production, Monsanto and the various bills in question.

Monsanto grows almost no food. It sells seeds and chemicals to farmers. It became a juggernaut in the industry by selling better seeds and making more profitable deals. You know, capitalism.

You actually think the money is going to independent farmers? That's so cute.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/busi...-richer-hasten-small-farm-failure-study-says/

"An EWG analysis found that the top one-tenth of recipients received 54 percent of all payments. Eighty-two farmers have each so far received more than $500,000 in trade relief."

And yet there are people on this forum who think this dumbass is “thought provoking.”

Also, it's not a "dumb story." Nuking hurricanes is a stupid and horrible thing to consider, and the one person who thinks it's a good idea happens to be the one who could actually do it.

I don't think he actually will mind you, but that's not the kind of cavilier attitude toward nuclear weapons you want in a man with his hand on the button.

Ben Shapiro is a ****ing imbecile. He was confused on twitter today about why the 1619 project was launched this year, inferring there was some ulterior motive behind it.

I’m sure the pro life people are going to be up in arms over this... they’ll probably protest a lot about this policy!

you know, cuz of life and how they care about all life and not just about taking choice away from women and stuff...

Trump’s approval is so low that the Dems are going to take back the senate. Wonderful. Idiots who voted for this idiot are to blame for this swing to the left.
