I would argue that's not what he means by inclusion. It's a slippery slope letting independents vote in primaries, imo. Not the way I want it, in an ideal world, but I do understand it.

Perhaps you could make some other arguments about inclusiveness, but not being able to vote in a primary (because you're not a member) is like the "visitors welcome" sign on LDS buildings. You can't say you're not welcome just because they're holding services inside and you refuse to go in the building. Anyone can register as a Republican. I, also, can't vote in GOP primaries. At least not without joining the GOP.

So they are accepting to Republicans. So less than have if the country.

What if someone wanted to face an abortion? Marry someone of the same sex? Are a Democrat? What if you are a black president? Are you going to be criticized for wearing a tan suit? Are you going to be accused of not being an actual American? Just silly to act like the GOP is super accepting.

"Party of Lincoln" - don't give me that crap, Ted Cruz. GOP has subverted the votes of African Americans and minorities for years through various voting suppression tactics like voter roll purges, challenging ID at polling locations, etc. Trump's own advisers have flat out stated that part of their efforts to win are voter suppression. Voter inclusion, give me a break you tool.

So no, Republicans get no moral high ground here.

I didn't refuse to go into the building. I can go into an lds church and participate in the meetings without being a member.
I can go into the voting building but can't participate without joining the GOP

Not samesies

I also don't think the lds church is super inclusive so I do like your comp though.

Would the GOP exclude you from being a member (I’m not using that as the measure for inclusiveness, FWIW, just responding to the idea that they’re not inclusive for not letting you vote in primaries without being a member)?

I think we can drop this. Fishon used a poor example of why the GOP is "non-inclusive", but he's not wrong. GOP is clearly not your party if you're looking for some kind of deference to minority populations.

Primaries are for the specific party. So of course it's not inclusive. But if you want it that way, then no party is inclusive. I can't vote in the Democrat primaries. Does that mean they're not inclusive? Lol.

What he's saying, is that it doesn't matter who you are, where you come from, if you want to be a republican, you can. Now, I'm not saying that's the most truthful statement, but that's what he's saying. I just don't think you're understanding the point, and thus extrapolating it too far. Because based on what you're saying, there's no party that's accepting and inclusive.
 
It's actually a good thing that only registered Republicans and Democrats should vote in their own primaries. That especially matters in Utah and in years with incumbents; do you really want the other party to load the vote and pick the worst candidate to help your true candidate out knowing their own nomination is secure?
