What's new

2021 Free Agency

It like like we are adding some min contracts later and that's it for FA. I guess we will see if a trade happens later. But I'm expecting us to run it back more or less.

Isn’t happening. Too many off season like this one where Rony Seikaley’s of the NBA refuse to play here. Even though doing so could get them a ring.
**** Rony Seikaly, too. He cost us a ring. He’s a DJ now. Not a radio DJ, like a record spinning DJ.

If we strike out, what are the odds we get Georges back?

I would love to add Paschall regardless.
Yeah. I think there could be something there besides just a friendship with Donovan. I know it’s been trending the wrong direction for him but his strength, athleticism, and how he flashed to begin his rookie year feels like there’s more there.

Like, if he can get his feet under him and especially if he continues to improve his long ball he could be a really useful piece as a compact big.

I am not going to let the fact that some always busted MLE scrub chose not to sign here overshadow the fact that we convinced an All-Star to sign another contract and stay in Utah.

Today was a good day.

All stats aren't accurate. He's comes off poorly in the stats I quoted regardless of the difference between the two. He doesn't come off great in the NBA net rating. Compare him to his teammates he is usually 7 or 8th in the regular season like I said before, but at least positive. In the playoffs he is terrible . This year he was -13.2.

But here is the stat I'm quoting from b-ref. He does poor in his off and defensive rating per 100. Which is a +/- per 100.

From the website

"ORtg -- Offensive Rating
An estimate of points produced (players) or scored (teams) per 100 possessions
DRtg -- Defensive Rating
An estimate of points allowed per 100 possessions"

Stats aside my point still stands. I don't see the reason why people want him so bad for the Jazz. Maybe if he was a min or cheap 3rd option I could see the value. But as a starter for the Jazz or 6/7th guy I don't see it.
I'm not going after your larger point.

I'm just saying you've been drawing the wrong lessons from the stats. Smart comes out well. If you remove the small-minute players (which I think you should, because the sample size is too small to be trustworthy), he's almost always among the top five of the Celtics, sometimes in the top three, despite being on very good teams with other high net-rating players (Horford, Irving, Brown, Tatum, Hayward, for example).

Man, it just kills me the way the deck is stacked against non-glamour teams. Meanwhile, the Nets get a rejuvenated Blake Griffin for nothing and the Lakers can deplete all their assets for Westbrook because they know a bunch of guys will sign with them for the minimum.

I'd roll the dice on Winslow at less than the full tax-payer (I think there's something where if we use the MLE to sign Butler we can get an extra year on his deal as a 2nd rounder).

I wouldn't hate Millsap either.
