2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I will say that I have really appreciated your videos and posts of fringe players this year. i will check him out.
He's not really fringe, he's a highly rated freshman (top 15 I believe). He just doesnt have the play style that lends itself to big numbers and he plays on a loaded team.

What bugs me is when people say tanking is stupid because you only have a 14% chance of getting Wemby. This draft is easily 9-12 people deep with good to great players. Wemby is the ultimate prize but there are tons of others that I would be very happy with if you miss out. I will be ecstatic if end up top 8. Now if we get two top ten picks, it is as close to a guarantee of getting a great player as you can get with this draft being so awesome.

My Ranked players right now:
1. Wemby
2. Scoot
3. Amen Thompson
4. GG Jackson
5. Anthony Black
6. Brandon Miller
7. Ausar Thompson
8. Nick Smith
9. Keyonte George
10. Cam Whitmore
11. Dariq Whitehead
12. Dillon Mitchell
13. Cason Wallace
14. Jarace Walker
15. Baba Miller
16. Kris Murray

Sorry HH, I am not a fan of the Dick like you.
Dick ain’t for everyone… I respect it.

that is hard for me to believe. but yeah, based on early returns he should be available in the 20s. i liked him quite a bit coming out of HS, but he's had some trouble early on at this level. really having trouble getting and making shots.
They look extremely long, AK like.

Man, I just did some googling and Jordan Walsh has a 7'3 wingspan. If he declares this year he could be an under the radar guy you might be able to get in the 20's. Could be an elite 3&D type.
I like everything I hear about him. He’s a good defender and not just a guy with good defensive tools. The shot needs to come around but I’d love to get him with the Philly pick.

Yeah that's what netted us DedEx.
I mean if you have atop 5 pick, the best prospect probably IS the best player in the that case, usually unless they reach on intangibles only.
The take here from me, is many teams draft high floor player, as the lottery starts to come to an end instead of risky higher upside lower floor. I still think the majority of the Jazz picks this year will all be late teens. they can get a high floor type with the last 1st and use the other two on high developmental prospects.

it's not looking good for him. he hasn't improved at all since coming back from injury, Scheyer isn't running plays for him at all and he barely even played in the second half of a close game last night.
its pretty soon coming off that injury to look good though. He has the tools NBA execs will covet regardless if he gets bypassed by better college performers or g-league allstars in these rankings.
I am not that high on him, just think the early returns are off by quite a bit for where he will go when it is all over.

They look extremely long, AK like.
so I'm watching Montverde vs IMG right now - Montverde is destroying them, btw, but Montverde has a sophomore (he's a big name out there so not like i'm breaking the news on him or anything) Cooper Flag (he's a white kid for those not familiar with him), since you mentioned AK, this kid seems like a clone at least in terms of a long wing player who is a crazy shot blocker. I think he has 5 blocks in this game and he's blocking jump shots. dude has a beautiful three point stroke too - so not so much AK like in that sense.

Sunrise Christian with Matas Buzelis (expected #1 overall pick in 2024) is on next.

they don't to me and he looks and plays small out there. in my experience long armed guys tend to look big and play big.
I'm not sure what to make of Walsh yet. I like his outside shot and his willingness to be a glue guy for this Arkansas team. He looks long but not 7'3" wingspan long. He also doesn't look all that explosive to me. Sometimes longer players look less explosive though because they don't need to jump as high.

okay, so montverde has some dudes. sean stewart is ranked #7 in the senior class - 6'8" and just a disgusting athlete. nba ready body and crazy explosive. Cooper Flag is a 6'7-6'8 wing - class of 2025, ftr. I think Cameron Boozer is #1 in that class right now and if he's legitimately better than Flagg, he must be nuts (though i have my doubts that he's better).
