One of the guys threw out comps of Gordon and Derrick Williams. The other said a blend of Miles Bridges, Jaylen Brown, and RJ Barrett. Said he isn't quite Stanley Johnson/Isaac Okoro, but could be closer than people think if he goes to a bad fit.
That's true, but thread lengths here rarely correlate with information. It's usually who can have really drawn out arguments. But maybe things are changing.Probably. There's just 100x the amount of draft content now compared to back then. Back then it was like DX and Chad Ford and not much else.
Ehh, again I'd disagree. If we got Walker I would want him developing his midrange game. I think k he's showing that stuff in workouts because it's a strength and will make people use their imaginations more. When you see a guy his size with his handle and the ability to pull up it should excite you, and you combine that with his passing upside, all the tools are there. Then that’s a shot a prospect should work on once they’ve bagged their more NBA-relevant/fundamental shot like the 3.
I can totally see the utility of him as a high-level glue guy, but what he’s practicing is not what is asked of that role nor should it.
Any team that is featuring Walker as a creator and off-the-dribble midrange scorer is gonna have pole position for the top of the ‘24 draft.
Maybe this goes in the hot takes thread but I don’t think he’s comfortable shooting from 3 even at standstill which is why he’s showcasing this weird workout. But I don’t think that’s a hot take.
We also need worthy high usage players with our hyper-efficient front court.
And unlike the twins, he can obviously shoot a basketball which - as it turns out - is the most important single skill in basketball.Cam is the ideal, or at least he can become the idea fit. Lauri is better off the ball on both ends. We need a ball in hand scorer and a primary wing defender.
Beyond fit I just think his speed+power combo is elite. He's not a perfect prospect, but as with Anthony Edwards sometimes you've got to stop nitpicking and realize talent right in front of you. Same is being said for Twins, I suppose, but Cam is much younger and did not play in an AAU tournament.
I think there is a lot to rebounding… similar to passing it requires reading what is going on all over the court and making fast decisions. Athleticism and size are obviously factors but also commitment to winning plays. Steals and high rebound rates are typically the most reliable statistical markers.

The exciting thing is those skills complement the other, they are not mutually exclusive.I’m not as confident in him being a high level shooter as you are. His best ability scoring the ball is drives and finishing at the rim.
I'm just glad they are actually negative on someone... they tend to blow a lot of sunshine. I think he is far better than Johnson/Okoro... the shot and fast twitch movements are much better already. I think a more SF version of Miles Bridges is probably pretty close. Its just some of the crossover drive stuff looks Don/Ant - esque. The shot is real pretty imo and he played all season on that wrapped thumb. If we got him at #9 I'd be shocked and elated. I think its got an almost zero percent chance at happening unless he starts rolling doobies in between jumpers at a workout GG style. One of the guys threw out comps of Gordon and Derrick Williams. Maybe. I also think his success is more tied to fit than anyone else in the top tiers and maybe even the entire draft. I buy Ausar’s ability to improve his shooting, I am not sure I buy Amen’s.I think Amen is starting to get underrated as well. If anyone turned out to be a surprise 2nd best player of the draft next to Wemby it would be him.
