2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

No way they’d do either of those switches. They have the leverage especially with the CJ for George thing.

Ya, not sure why they’d want to add another small high usage guard. Would be bordering on insanity if they went that route with how the team is set up now.
I'd want to keep either George or Hendricks. I would probably sacrifice the Lakers pick if I needed to.

I think there is a chance we would draft Dillingham and immediately move him if he were at 10. He's not what we need but he is great value there

For what it is worth, Leif Thuline said he thinks Dillingham would be the first player in this draft to average 20+ ppg.

AN undersized combo guard that is probably more of a SG? He's better off the bounce from distance than Colin, but isn't as fearless at the cup. They are similar enough that you only need one of them.
The only thing that prevents you from wanting both is their size.

And both are PGs

You’re not keeping George, and in this senecio there’s no need to keep him. And if we are being real with Hendricks he’s a role player and we don’t need him having Markkanen.

I feel like jazz do a bad job at drafting wings. If there isnt anyone there that blows you away, im fine with just taking the rangiest athlete ok the board. Can never have too many athletic 6’6” to 6’8” dudes.

Carter isn't small and the Jazz have had great success with small guards...
I never said Carter was small?....... And we have drafted really good small guards? Nigel? What about Saben Lee? What about Jared Butler? What about Eric Maynor? What about Dee Brown? What about Trey Burke? What about Morris Almond?

And then you're going to say ..... but DWill and John!!!

That's a lot of bad misses on small guards imo

Yes we have drafted some really good small guards. You also listed a bunch of mid to late 2nd rd picks that no one expects to hit on. We did hit on one though in Mo Williams who somehow left as a free agent after his rookie year. I still don't understand how that happened. In reality the only bad miss on a small guard was Trey Burke.

i said it earlier (maybe in another thread), he is the most likely all-star of this draft. the problem with dillingham is that 1) the fit on the jazz is horrendous and 2) long term, small guards just have an extremely hard to impacting winning. even if a guy like dillingham hits his ceiling he's probably just a guy who scores a **** ton of points on a .500 team. his ceiling is brad beal/a worse passing/playmaking trae young. as good as those guys have been in their careers they just haven't impacted winning. even donovan, who has been on some great regular season teams, always flames out in the playoffs. it's no fault of their own, but it's near impossible to be a short superstar in the league if you don't shoot like curry.

but because of his explosive scoring ability, he would be damn fun to draft.

Endless propaganda post number five million.

Not going lie. I love the YongXi prospect. He seems like a better version of Tech at a younger age. The perfect quality scrub player. He won't be upset at limited minutes and would love to play in Utah. Plus I think he could compete with starters. The speed on his shot is fast and consistent. Has all the wing/big guard skills. The downside is that he would help the team win. Here's highlights from this season. I love the last highlight. He is doubled on the perimeter and he squeezes out a shot and makes it. Plus his blocks and dunks are cool too

He has played 99 games professionally in two years. This is like getting a 5 year college player but he is only 21. He could level up quickly. He won't have a rookie wall and I think he acclimates and contributes right away.

They SHOULD be PG at their height. They are quite obviously combo guards though. This is a dumb *** thing to argue about.
Sexton was 19th in the NBA in assist percentage. How is he not a PG? You either have an extremely antiquated view of what a PG is, or you are a complete moron. Probably both.

Lol the jazz never really ever draft wings till last year to the point I don’t really remember the last time they did it’s usually guards and bigs

You forgot Mitchell and Grayson Allen. Also you really felt the need to list some second round long shots? I’m pretty sure they drafted Dee because he was Williams BFF Then dropped him quick because he was a bad influence on Williams.

Your strange obsession with this player is puzzling and a little uncomfortable quite frankly I just don’t see what you see

I looked for him on Keandre's (Hoop Intellect) Big Board and he is there, but outside his top 100 players. I think this is just the wrong thread as Cui is not really a 2024 draft prospect. Typically there is an undrafted free agents thread and Cui is probably more appropriate to discuss in that thread if/when it is created.

I guess you are right. This was just the closest thread to it. But getting good undrafted players is also an important piece of the team building machine. I just love his shooting style and good shooting cures a lot of faults.
