2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

Tyson/da Silva/Kolek/Dunn I think are my favorite guys that could be available. So I think I'm on board too.

There always seems to be a guy that falls like 10 spots further than he should and winds up in this range. I'd just take that guy. I could see maybe Tyler Smith or Missi sliding IDK.
Dillion Jones or Terrence Shannon Jr. would work for me too.

I haven't heard Jaxson Robinson's name mentioned even in the 2nd round. I rarely am impressed with BYU player's pro chances, but he doesn't suck and has decent size.
Too inconsistent for a 4 year player and one dimensional offensive game.

There's potential there, but he's probably undrafted or picked in the 50s.

I’m looking forward to the draft again. It’s exciting but hardly ever easy because it’s not how these guys play now but how they play a few years from now. I’ve followed these kids quite a bit, and for me, Reed Sheppard is the player I’d love to have for the Jazz in this year’s draft because already at a young age he has that uncanny feel for the game, how he can read it and manipulate it. And because I want the Jazz to build a highly efficient 3-shooting team that, like the current Celtics, relies on ball-movement and drive-and-kicks to get the ball to open 3-point shooters, Sheppard as a playmaker PG and a good 3-point shooter (and not a driver-to-the-trees) is my number 1 target in this year’s draft (if he’s still available when it’s our turn). Another guy I believe will be a great player is Sarr, but he will most likely be out of reach for us as he's probably the first player off the board.

To answer this and your previous question. I like Reed just not with the Guards we have on our roster. Reed is not a PG he's a short combo guard just like Sexton, Keyonte (a little taller at 6'4) and Jordan. Reed is literally 6'3 same height as Sexton and JC. We already have to hide them on defense, and none of them can guard multiple positions. Reed presents the same issues. I like him and I'm sure the Jazz see where he brings value, but ultimately I believe the case is weak if Topic, Castle or Risacher or another top wing is on the board. Our Front Office wants positional size. We just tried to trade up from Black in last years draft. Heck our top pick was a 6'9 Wing that can guard multiple positions.

Stephon Castle free throw rate is good/decent. Hmm...maybe... he can become a decent 3 pt shooter.

We want to lose next year so maybe you should pick him and let him develop his shot. We have bigs who can shoot so maybe you play an inverted lineup.

You mention our guards, but I’m not thinking of our current team. I’m talking about building a championship contender within the next 3 years, and Sexton and Clarkson wouldn’t be starters in it for me. Keyonte might be, depending on his development, but I believe Sheppard’s chances of becoming an efficient, playmaking PG is better than Keonte’s.

Not drafting someone based fit with the current Jazz roster is a terrible way to approach this draft. There is no nucleus to build around. Acquire. Talent.
Are you talking about fit or overlap?

Fit you absolutely have to worry about, since if you draft a guy who is a terrible fit you also put that drafted player in a bad position both in terms of getting minutes from Hardy and being successful on the court in those minutes.

Overlap you cannot worry about too much, as long as you dont develop massive logjams. Nothing wrong with some healthy competition.

Id argue that overlap is a bigger concern than fit.
