100% this.Shep could be seen as an ideal fit next to the big PG’s as well. If you’re a pessimist about him, you would say he doesn’t have the ability to be a lead ball handler and is also too small to play SG. Well, problem solved if you’re playing next to Amen, Cade, or Lamelo.
There’s just more chances he can land than Dillingham/Topic. I don’t think it’s crazy to think he could fall to the back of the pack between those three….but there are simply more landing spots for him than the other two.
Do a quick mock that has Dillingham falling past 4 and where does he land?
Detroit? Not with Cade and Ivey.
Charlotte? Off ball from LaMelo? Shep is a much better fit.
Portland? Not with Scoot, Simons, Sharpe.
San Antonio potentially at 8 if they don’t take a guard at 4.
I could see Sheppard going as high as 3 and honestly he might be the favorite there right now. What it Risacher goes 1 and Sarr goes 2? Sheppard is the BPA at 3 which is a luxury pick for Houston anyways.
