What's new

2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

I'm watching the re-run of the ATL game on KJZZ. Cody could be really good, but it's going to take a lot of work, both in physical development and skill development. If he sticks with the Jazz, it's likely he'll be a complementary player and glue guy. However, it wouldn't take too much for him to rep out a few scoring scenarios that would be tough to stop. Right now, he's pretty dependent on getting all the way to the rim, but a floater, a mid-range jumper and a post move off glass would be pretty straight-forward counters for when he can't get there. He's long enough and coordinated enough to develop those eventually.

IMO we need to stop seeing Cody as a primary scorer and hope the other stuff materializes enough he can get by. Current Exum is what he should be aiming for. Strong, versatile defender and can also do a few things well enough on offense to get by.

Kel'el Ware has started making an impact with 45 pts, 23 rebs and 4 blks in his last two games combined. I had him as a lottery guy and top-5 rookie.

Cody moves exceptionally well on defense. He's quick enough to stay with smaller guards, in most cases, and long enough to bother them. But his lack of strength and physical presence is holding back his defensive impact, as well as his offense.

Almost this entire board fought me tooth and nail on Ware. I don't understand how they couldn't see the talent.

The talent was there. I guess the concern was that he didn't always want to play hard. But the Heat are a good team to develop him.
