2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

I think the most real scenario would be if we draft Tre/Fears at 5, then we decide that Key might get in the way of their development. So probably more of a wing at 13,

Who am I kidding, we make the trade to #13 and both Kas/Jase are there but we draft Demin anyways.
We go Fears at 5... keep Key... take Jase at 21... trade for Trae in the offseason while keeping them all.

I'm really looking forward to pick#5 and a good piece via trade. jazz roster is a mystery. We can only unlock their tru potential if we get a true #1. Hopefully pick#5 can lead the team.
Tre Johnson looks good not sure he's a number one but he could be a nice Robin to AJ or Boozer

When you're literally one of the worst players in the NBA getting rotation minutes, your occasional flashes don't mean that much.

Now you're just getting into galaxy brain overthinking territory. Sometimes getting rid of a dude is addition by subtraction. Key (and his second contract) should be someone else's headache.

There's that galaxy brain again.

Everyone playing rotation minutes in the NBA is a known quantity. Teams either like you and/or your deal or they don't, for whatever reason. Key is an insignificant player, so involving him in trades is not some franchise-altering decision for any club.
Sure buddy. NBA GMs never bet on potential. For them trading is like going to the supermarket where not only do the products include full ingredients list but also nutritional values and expiration dates.

I dont think anyone would make an offer for Key. But if they did, it would be betting on the same hypotheticals that we need to bet on.

Its not galaxy brain at all.

Wonder if the Wolves/Hawks would do this. I think the Wolves need to move on from Rudy.

Quin get reunited with his guy. They do a final run with the Trae build with a center who fits Tre.

Wolves get younger/better depth and splits up Rudy's contract into moveable pieces.

What about

Jazz Trade

#21 (maybe)
Markkanen
Either Svi or Juzang
Springer
(Last are all non-guarenteed)

Houston traded

#10
Jabari Smith
Dillon Brooks (salary need)
Reed Sheppard

This is if Houston can't make deals for anyone else. Smith might flourish in a new system and is a decent defender. Reed needs playing time.

Houston gets a player that would be perfect next to sengun. With Thompson and green they have great scoring punch . They keep eason to still have a great defense.

Jazz

Collier
Tre Johnson (#5)
Hendricks
Smith
Kessler

Bench

Keyonte
Sheppard
Brooks
Demin (#10)
Williams
Sensabaugh

Hopefully trade

Sexton and Clarkson

Reading this it occurs to me that Houston is going to have a big salary matching problem if they want to trade for a star. No team trading a star wants 2 more years of Dillon Brooks at 20 million per. That is the only move Houston has.

I didnt really look at Dillons contract.

Houston can pick up the last year of van vleets contract at 44 million. Then you have an expiring contract.

Lauri is not a great fit for HOU. I think any Lauri trade with HOU with need to be a three teamer where Lauri goes someone else and HOU gets a ball in hand star.

As great as Lauri is, it’s definitely a challenge to find teams who would want to pay his salary for a non creator.

I saw an article on Hoopsrumors that KJ Martin's contract is non-guaranteed and also for eight million dollars. That seems like an easy decision to move on from.

There’s also no trigger date for it to become guaranteed, making it an extremely valuable trade asset. Jazz will almost certainly use his salary in a deal somewhere this offseason.
