Key things to remember. . . Pippen started as a 6'1" PG walk-on who grew to 6'8" 200 lbs in college. He was a really skinny rookie who struggled with strength and shooting, but stood out because of his elite athleticism and hustle. Always cutting to the basket. Aaron Gordon is 18 and ripped compared to where Pippen was as a rookie, with the same level of athleticism. I'm encouraged by Gordon's fire and work ethic. Aaron Gordon will be a 6 year NBA pro by the time he's the same age that Scottie Pippen broke out. I can easily see him working tirelessly on his shot with pro coaches and developing a really solid mid-range game. I'm perfectly happy to take him at 5, but I'd be happy with any of the top 8 prospects. The Jazz will get at least one very good player from this draft. With how young and raw all of the top prospects are, it might be a few years before we know which ones are worth the hype.

Pippen hit FTs at a .684 rate.....Aaron gordon is atrocious from the line.

Pippen was good but lets not forget how stacked that team was. Gordon is no pippen...LOL
 
I don't care how talented the player's base is in the draft. The important thing is how much willing is he to improve at all sides of the game for just one purpose: win. Because these are young players and you can easily give a 20 year old 5 years to get whatever ceiling he can reach and believe me with the proper hard work in that ammount of time miracles can happen. So it's also a bit of a gamble and a continuous process in its own nature this draft thingie.

#3 Enes Kanter gets lost on defense.

and Gordon won't fix this. Marcus Smart would be a huge upgrade to this defense as it stands right now...

So you think Smart is a number one option on offense? Sorry but Smart's an average shooter in college. He is not a number #1 option on offense which is the claim the anti-Gordon crowd is making against Gordon. Smart is an undersize SG pretending to be a PG.

The Bulls were stacked when Pippen came aboard. What does that have to do with his shooting FTs? Pippen was 22 years old as a rookie. So Gordon has 4 years to improve to 57% (for the record Gordon shot 42 %) which is what he shot as a rookie. I certainly think he can do that and more. Gordon works his butt off and his workouts have only shown how much he has improved his shooting. All reports from his workout with the Jazz is he shot the ball really well in his workout better than expected.

Yes, but the defensive IQ only gets you so far. Elite defense requires both the knowledge, plus physical attributes: size, length, quickness, speed

Let's say Scottie Pippin (one of highest defensive IQs ever), was 6'3 (not 6'7), 6'9 wingspan (not 7'3), 39" vertical (not 48"), less lateral quickness, etc

Now you have something like Jeff Hornacek (also one of the highest defensive IQs ever)
