What's new

Aaron Gordon....Are you serious? Disaster.....Disaster.....

I was initially down on Gordon too. But I'm not so sure anymore. There's so much to like about him. I couldn't believe people were pimping him at first but now I'm getting sweet on him.

His shot is the concern. The only concern. But it's a big factor. But will he work on it? I'm confident he will. I have more confidence in Gordon's basketball mind than AK's. And AK was very good at a lot of things. He just needed a better outside shot - which he worked on, but it never really struck fear into opposing defenses.

Tweeners are difficult, but Gordon seems like a smart, great kid. I'm impressed with him. I just hope he can play the 3.

If he becomes a good 3 pt shooter, then he is a 3.

Who was S. Marion? 3 or 4? Or it did not matter because he was still All star and very useful for the teams he played? Gordon is already better passer than Marion ever was and all signs pointing to him being able to rebound and defend at Marion's level as well. Only FT need to improve.

The Bulls were stacked when Pippen came aboard. What does that have to do with his shooting FTs? Pippen was 22 years old as a rookie. So Gordon has 4 years to improve to 57% (for the record Gordon shot 42 %) which is what he shot as a rookie. I certainly think he can do that and more. Gordon works his butt off and his workouts have only shown how much he has improved his shooting. All reports from his workout with the Jazz is he shot the ball really well in his workout better than expected.

When I did shoot around before my games, I'd always put on a show from the 3 point line, doesn't mean I'm a great or even decent shooter, because in games I couldn't make them consistently. Just because Gordon is hitting shots in workouts doesn't mean he's all of a sudden improved greatly or even minimal.

marion was a 3 most of his career imo

news flash....Gordon will never learn to shoot.

This is a stupid statement. To say Gordon won't improve is ridiculous. He'll never be Ray Allen, but if LBJ can can improve and be a good shooter so can Gordon.

Gordon will get better at shooting... he'll never be Kyle Korver though. Gordon is a hard worker and an a**-kicker. He knows what he is good at and does that well. If Exum is off the board I am all in on Gordon.

I think he can play both forward positions and create mismatches. He will be able to defend most threes and fours. He is different than a tweener like Derrick Williams who can't defend either. I think his best position in the pros will be as a 4, but will be able to play some 3 if you have a shooter at the 4 or 5 to stretch the floor. I don't think you want him playing 30+ minutes at the 3.

Exactly why can Gordon guard 4's and DW can't? As far as Gordon goes I chastised yamyam for saying Gordon wouldn't improve his shot, but at the same time it doesn't mean Gordon will just because of high character and being a hard worker. I remember MKG being as highly thought of and having the same character strengths, and MKG has shown little improvement. Not saying he won't, I hope he does improve, but I'm, not counting on it and the rest of you shouldn't either.

Because Gordon is much more athletic than D Will and actually cares about defense. D Will can jump, but his lateral movement is terrible and he's not strong enough to guard most 4s. Gordon will struggle against the bigger 4s.

MKG is not a great comp... he can only play the 3 and his shot is beyond broken. If Gordon was only going to be able to play the 3 I wouldn't be so high on him. I just think the downside of Gordon is less than guys like Vonleh (although I like him a lot too) and Smart. If he doesn't become a good shooter, then I think he is Shawn Marion. If he becomes a good shooter I think he'll be one 2 or 3 best players in this draft.
