Ace Bailey ROY watch

I mean I guess that is cool, but I get tired of these "youngest to do whatever" when the whatever is some random stat no one considers meaningful at all. Hey guys he is the youngest, by 3 days, to record 20 pts, EXACTLY 3 rebounds and 2 assists in EXACTLY 32 minutes of game time on a Tuesday in November while being guarded by another rookie who scored 10 points in a single quarter! Can you believe it?!??!
i understand and agree with your point to an extent. it is a cherry picked, aged-based "record", no question. but it also isn't THAT obscure, random or specific. 20 ppg is a pretty general line to draw. the 4 threes is a tad more specific/cherry picked, but it's just two numbers that are fairly meaningful. 3pt made and 20+ ppg isn't that bad in terms of cherry picking numbers. is it very meaningful in any way? no, it's not. is it a kinda cool stat? yes.

Ace looks awesome. No chucker instinct on display and his shot looks like butter. His ability to free himself up / create space to get shots off really pops.

We've got a few "score-first" minded guys but with the right usage rate he's a 25ppg guy and a super tough cover.

I've been impressed with his cutting and his ability to pass on the move. He's showing understanding of how to fit in and get others involved.

I don't care if he is ROY. He clearly has some talent to go with his length. Once he builds up some strength, tightens his handle and learns the NBA game, he is going to be a star.

The best part is that we don't have to wait for "flashes." He is consistently good as a baseline. Not sure we have had a rookie like that since Karl Malone. Maybe D-Will?

Yeah I wasn't actually commenting as much on that one metric as just the tendency to do this in general, and how stupid it can get.

It is kinda cool He out did LeBron, Luka, Giannis, Wemby, etc for this meaningless stat :) :) :) :) :)

I remember all the monster anomalies for Kanter and Favors during their first couple years. There'd be a lot more too now because of how much more data is mined now some 13 or 14 years later.

I mean, Donovan Mitchell had a very electric rookie season with a high baseline.

Love what I am seeing from Ace. Partially it's recovering from the flu, but still feels like he is getting better with every game
