What's new

Ak 47

Well, just think if AK had Favors to protect the paint. This would've allowed him to gamble more on D and probably block more shots and get more steals. It's a moot point now if he's signing with the Nets.

Please no more bring back AK threads. I can't freak'n take it anymore. People have to realize players come and go the Jazz are still here. AK had what 10 years to make his mark as a Jazzman but he wasn't dedicated enough to be great.

In russian media AK said that his options for next season are 30 NBA clubs and CSKA. He said for sure that he is not signing with any other Eurolegue club. So again, according to him nothing set in stone when it comes to Nets.

FWIW, big game by AK in the Euroleague semifinal in Istanbul with DWill in the house. 17 pts. 9 rbs. 4 blks. CSKA 66 - Panathinaikos 64.

So, I guess I was right about AK and DWill coming to terms -- though I think that question was posed on the Realgm board where I seldom post

I know it wouldn't be popular here and it won't happen but I'd love to see a lineup that had Hayward at SG and AK at SF and Favors at either PF or C.

Yeah, Verlin, I didn't sign in, so saw your post because you're on my ignore list. I also think that when a person posts the people on their ignore list shouldn't be able to see it, so they can't make sarcastic ad hominem attacks like you habitually do.

Just like I was right about Carroll when everyone who posted said he sucked, and I was right about Tinsley when people complained after he was signed. And I was right about Matthews before he even got playing time. Yeah, I know my basketball. The one guy I was wrong about was DWill, who I thought was a good player but who surprised me not only with his skills but his quickness. However, I had only seen him play a couple of games in the NCAA tournament as I don't follow college ball. But you're fairly new here. I've been on this board since its first year and I don't even recall when that was -- maybe AK's first year.

We probably couldn't afford either Williams or Kirilenko.
LOL; maybe Williams was scouting Kirilenko... If AK is "good enough", he'll resign with the Nets.
With the static dimensions of an NBA court and the sheer length and quickness of many of todays NBAers, the stand-still post player (Al Jefferson) is becoming a thing of the past. Big-bodied guys who lack mobility
are limited in ways they can be productive. His teammates MUST keep moving even when Al has the ball and actually remain part of the offense. Passing out of the post to cutters who are still MOVING should be a MAJOR part of our offense, and it doesn't appear to be. When the opposing D basically KNOWS Al is way more likely to eventually take the shot than his very hesitant teammates, their modus operandi is "let'em shoot!".
Duncan, OTOH, is actually a tad taller than Jefferson, but is much more mobile.

Hope springs eternal here; I LIKE the mention he makes regarding improving his ball handling skills and working at SF.

Getting that AND his confidence in his outside shot going, which I heard was better this year, would certainly help us.
Then coach Ty needs to get him on the court... He could become a better SF than Carroll, who looks like a defender and hustle guy only...

If we sign Nash or DWill then it makes sense to bring AK for deep playoffs run push. Otherwise he doesn't belong here.

So, after reading here tonight, the Jazz have a shot at AK, Deron, AND Korver this summer? I bet we could get Boozer from Chicago after his showing this playoffs.

THE GANG'S GETTING BACK TOGETHER!!!!

Just read in the news, AK is chosen as the MVP of the year in euroleague and the best defender

AK jacks up ill advised jump shots, and lost his defensive mojo years ago. He wouldn't have changed a thing.

Kirilenko would have made this team much better this year, but for next year I can just let him go.

Obviously AK > Carrol > Howard. But by this time next year we all hopefully will be enjoying Hayward and Burks romping all over the WC. The time for hoping on AK has passed.
