Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (democratic socialist) wins NY primary

It’s ok, my response wasn’t a fruitful one designed to be engaged with. Mostly a tongue in cheek remark.

But yeah it’s not even known who made that flyer— but either way I frankly don’t find most of those points bad

I’m sure you don’t...which is why a discussion with you is a waste of time.

the only one that would polarize every DSA member is the piece on private property. The tankies are deadest on it, the social democrats who want a more Nordic system obvs disagree.

On the list on that poster, I would dispute private property, and I think compromise is essential in a pluralistic society.

Others (I.C.E., corporations, police, Israel) I would support with the understanding that they refer to reform rather than abolition.

Lol. She thought this was real and not a joke and is getting roasted on Twitter.

Didn't this chic make anti semitic comments on her interview with PBS?

Interested in hearing a breakdown of this if someone could please.

It's simple. Israel is a horrible racist country that is illegally occupying the West Bank. On top of treating their Arab citizens like ****, and openly talking about "the demographic problem" of having too many Palestinians around, in their native ****ing land.

Jews and Muslims think they have a holy claim to land in Israel (Muslims think its Palestine aka West Bank and Gaza Strip).

Right now Israel has all the power and are backed by the richest countries. They have a military occupation over the Muslims who live there and treat them very poorly.

Most sensible people think there should be two separate states and they should respect each other, but Israel wants all the land and to eradicate Islam from Israel. Its becoming very Hitler-esque

Israel and America have deep political ties. A lot of American politicians are bought out to support Israel and not speak badly on their occupation. The mainstream media will always ignore it though despite Israel/US politician corruption being a bigger reality than Russia/US politician corruption.

It's unfortunate that there are so many polarized views/opinions/etc circulating that it makes it hard for someone, like myself, to really know what's going on. It's annoying really.

I watched the video I posted above and remembered there was a thread about her on her. I watched the video and chuckled a lil about it's awkwardness. I knew it would probably get a reaction on here. Then I read things on twitter saying her PBS interview was a disaster and she said something anti semitic. After I read what she said, I had no idea how it was anti semitic (I wrote basically what I read.)

Israel is definitely an interesting topic and a long and complicated history. I should/need to educate myself about it, the conflicts and the political impacts it has on us. I've been pretty apathetic about it (I usually read a lot about things that interest me) mainly because I kind of got sick of religion all together.

If you guys know of good reads that are pretty objective and informative about Israel, I'd love to start informing myself better.

Just a couple of notes. A lot of people seem to conflate Arabs and Muslims. Arabs is a cultural identity. Some have fair skin, eyes and hair. Others have dark brown skin and features. And many in between. Similarly, some of them are Muslims, which is a religion. Others are Christians. Some Arab countries have a lot of Christians, like Lebanon at 30%.

I have a lot more to say about the subject of Israel, but I'll have to find the time. Currently typing on my phone in the dressing room while wearing a hazmat suit.
