McHale's not getting enough love. He's usually a starter in this thing.

Incredible scorer (26ppg) and defender (6 All-Defensive teams).

He's the best 3rd big in this whole tournament.

Walton would destroy McHale. Unless we're completely ignoring his heyday and MVP year.

Who has a big on their bench better than McHale?
Nobody. IMO, McHale was one of the top 3 post players in NBA History. His array of post moves was unbelivable...and unguardable.
I think you could even move Pierce to the bench and slide Nowitzki to the 3. Thomas, Drexler, Nowitzki, McHale, Shaq...I couldn't think of a front line better than this.

this is a great match up. on paper, it's pretty much even. but IMO, this is the battle of chemistry.

I thought very hard about it, and it's no brainer for me. in 3 month notice, quin's team will win rather easily. if both teams play a season or two to build chemistry together with a right team, then i see a great 7 game series.

why quinsnyderhair's team will win

1. they have a clear leadership & hierarchy. This is wilt & baylor's team. No other dudes can challenge that. Wilt & Baylor go way back in 50's playing street ball together. and they played together for 4 years. these 2 greats would set the tone, and be a leader. I consider elgin baylor one of the most underrated player in all sports. He was Charles barkley before barkley. on top of that he has bit of Lebron in him. baylor was the original freak of nature.

2. everybody else is now a supporting cast. IMO, this is critical. this is a 2 superstar team with bunch of unselfish role players. ray allen / curry will be 3pt specialists. westbrook is the energy guy. and there are bunch of glue guys who will do all the dirty works.

3. Great defensive front court. how to stop Shaq/Dirk? by having a great defensive front court. Spy really got a bad draw. wilt/sampson/walton are pretty much Shaq/dirk/mchale's worst nightmare. walton's peak was short lived, but peak walton was basically a bigger kevin mchale with nastiness. sampson who is good 3 inches taller than dirk is a perfect dirk stopper. wilt/shaq will cancel each other out, but wilt will stay on the court when shaq hits the bench. wilt is the only NBA player who can neutralize shaq. wilt is the only guy shaq can't bully. no disrespect to shaq, but wilt's defensive ability tops shaq's great offense.

why spy's team will lose

1. this is isiah's team. at least that's how isiah would approach the game. There is a reason why isiah was left out from the dream team. he is a ruthless leader who will never back down to anybody. MJ hated isiah for his ruthlessness. Magic hated isiah because isiah talked trash all over him in the finals. they were boys, but the peak isiah has turned into a baby face assassin. he would make shaq his #2. when things go right, isiah/shaq would truly be great. when things go wrong, then you are talking about the clash of 2 of the biggest alpha egos. Isiah would have a problem with shaq's work ethic. in a way, isiah is alot like kobe but even more ruthless.

2. more egos & misfits i can see this team being a ticking time bomb. can the talent just take over? or will they clash. talent can just take over against inferior teams. but on paper, both teams are evenly matched talent for talent. let's say spy's team loses game 1 in 7 game series. how will they react in game 2? isiah is a great leader of men. but he never led teams with this many talents. this is one of those teams with loaded talents who will complain about minutes. guys like tmac & pierce can become cancerous. even more so than artest. this is a team where i can see supporting casts not being supportive. and because of quin's bigs, guys like marc gasol/amare, won't even play much.

3. not a great 3pt shooting team - bunch of scorers, but no 3pt specialists. that could hurt down the stretch.

2 cents

Not a great 3-point shooting team? Pierce, Dirk, and Billups are all 40% 3-point shooters. They're all incredibly clutch at the end of games where you think it'll hurt me.

Come on.

Beat me to it...was going to say the same thing. By contrast, the only legit 3 point shooters on QSH's team is Ray Allen and Steph Curry. Last I checked, 3 is better than 2.

McGrady and Artest were good 3-point shooters, too. Both of them had seasons of averaging 39% on at least 5 attempts.

Those two are infinitely better long distance shooters than Baylor/Gervin.

QSH may have Ray and Curry, but from top to bottom, my team is better from the outside.

Billups and Pierce are 5th and 6th all time in 3-pointers made.

And this season Pierce is going to quickly become 3rd all time, behind only Ray and Reggie.

Ron Artest (a DPOY) putting up these kind of stats:

20.5 points - 5.8 rebounds - 3.5 assists - 2.3 steals - .7 blocks - 38% from 3 on 3.9 attempts

(the next season he averaged 40% on 5.6 attempts)

Look at this season by T-Mac...

32.1 points - 6.5 rebounds - 5.5 assists - 1.7 steals - 39% from 3 on 6.0 attempts
Sorry, I thought you meant that he took only 6 total attempts for the whole season. Yeah that was a good season, but for his career, he was a 33% shooter from downtown...very average, nothing special.

they are still scorers first. not your traditional shooter. ray allen/curry shoot circles around those 3.

pierce/tmac/billups = scorers. none of them can turn into a 3pt specialist.

but quin's team? you can ask curry & allen to be specialists. and they would be 50% 3pt shooter for this team.
