What's new

Are there any Kanter apologists left? What are they saying?

It's pretty clear Steven Adams is going to get the majority of minutes once he comes back. OKC seems to be interested in Kanter mostly for his ability to attack post mismatches and offensive rebound and not his face up game at all.

Let me add my 2 cents...my eye test tells me that when Kanter got traded he played harder. I didn't have any idea that he could run that fast. That tells me that he was not giving his all when playing for the Jazz. Glad he is gone.

I have little respect for people who don't do their best regardless. Maybe it is just a personal thing, but it is also something that I feel very strongly about. Whether I was making 6 figures in a great job or 40k in a make-do job after I got laid off, I always try to do my best. I not only owe it to the people paying my check, but I personally just work that way. When I see these guys getting paid millions to play a game and get the impression they are holding back or not giving it their all it makes me sick. If that is the case then I lost all respect for Kanter. Same goes for any player playing that game in a "contract year", or whatever. Go hard or go home.

He didn't play harder he is being used correctly. Presti could see the Millers were trying to keep his value down and showcase his weaknesses instead of strengths. Presti swooped in to capitalize on it as he always does. He knew Kanter has the best low post game in the NBA and put him in situations where passing is an actual option. He had 5 assists the other day. 5! Thats probably a career high for what Utah was doing.

BTW, Kanter led a Westbrook and durant less team in a win over a Laker team we couldn't beat fully healthy. What does that tell you about his value and DL getting ripped off?

Yet they lost to Phoenix and a Chicago team that is missing Rose AND Butler - WITH Kanter.

What does it tell me? OKC is a better team than Utah (despite Utah having a better winning % since the trade than OKC). And all NBA teams can have bad nights.

Jazz are 5-2 since the trade. They have victories over 4 teams with winning records (SA, Portland, MIlwaukee and Memphis), but two embarrassing losses to teams under .500.

OKC is 6-3, with only one of those victories over a team with a winning record (Dallas). But they took care of business against teams playing below .500.

BTW, Kanter's stats with OKC are virtually identical to his stats with Utah.
He's playing 1 more min per game (woo hoo!) but getting fewer shots and his scoring is down by .5, Rebounding is up by 1 as are assists. FG% is also improved; no doubt because he is playing closer to the basket and not shooting as many mid-range shots or 3's (hasn't attempted one in OKC yet). As a result, he's also getting to the line more. Also realize it's a small sample size with OKC.

Let's see if I can get this table to post.

Interesting stat (anomaly):
With Kanter in the lineup, OKC has yet to beat an opponent with a winning record.

They've only won against Dallas and sub -500 teams since the trade, but the Dallas game was the first one after the deadline and Kanter didn't suit up (as most don't for the first game - not enough time to get to their new team, take a physical, etc.).

Wrong. Kanter's 2 point percent is up to elite levels like I told you it would. Has nothing to do with threes.

How can you sit there and say identical stats when his assists are more than triple and FTAs are double? He has become the best, most efficient scorer in the game.

OKC is 5 and 2 in games Kanter played. He's quietly making Adams an afterthought. They're already calling him The Big James Harden.

Kanter puts up Shaq numbers in the post and post defense is better today.

Lol.

Kanter's high with OKC - since he's been free to be his dominant self - is 20 pts. Took Shaq 14 years before his SEASON average DROPPED that low. Congrats, Kanter is now averaging fewer points at OKC than he did with Utah. That 13.3 compares to a 35 year old Shaq, though. So yes, a young Kanter is putting up as many points in the post as a decrepit Shaquille O'Neal.
