To redo an earlier post of mine in its own thread...

Let's review:

Dennis Lindsey officially took over as the head man last offseason.

He then worked some magic and moved up in the draft and nabbed the Jazz Trey Burke. The man with ice in his veins.

Then he furter made some moves and landed the Jazz the 7-2 Stifle Tower in Rudy Gobert.

Mr. Lindsey wasn't done, not by a long shot. He then saw that what we had was not good but not good enough for that title. So he signed Garret, Lucas, Thomas, Tinsley, Clark...to ensure the tank and a top pick for the loaded draft in 2014.

But he knew that all good teams need to keep options open for years to come. So he went out and facilitated a trade with Denver and GS that enabled the Jazz to land 2 1st rounders and a couple 2nd rounders for expiring contracts that leave the Jazz room to move in free agency.

Then he sat the very nice coach Corbin down and told him how this season would go. Player development and defense, defense, defense.

Corbin made some improvement on the players but was dead last in defense. So the great DL sat the nice coach Corbin down and thanked him for his service and saw him to the door. Along with his coaching staff.

In the middle of all that DL came down from his offices on high and threw in some interview on the recent locker clean out day. Then he showed Jazz Nation that he is indeed in charge of this boat. By comments about freeing Kanter for 3s, laying to rest the Kanter/Favors dilemma, and getting real with the players that he means business and that they are his heralds. Perform or he will find those that will.

So Jazzfans I ask you, Do you believe in DL now?!

Spycam he is waiting for your tender embrace.

Still waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to early.

When Lindsey took over, the Jazz were a playoff team. The Jazz have gotten worse in each of the two seasons DL has been in charge, and haven't managed to add an impact player.

He fired a coach, and made a couple trades for guys who haven't shown much of anything yet. What are we celebrating?

This. We haven't had the lottery yet, we don't have a HC, we don't know what will happen with Hayward, etc.

Burke looks like a nice pick. Gobert could be great or could never play for us.

Other than that, he hasn't done anything. KOC set this team up for the tank.

What if Lindsey's HC is awful, he drafts the next Bowie/Oden, Hayward leaves and becomes an All Star OR Hayward is overpaid and never produces, etc.

It seems nice, what Lindsay has done so far.

BUT, he hasn't done anything yet.

I'm all in with DL. Letting Ty go is such a huge organizational shift for the Jazz. Ty is everything you want in a coach, except of course the coaching part. I'm sure DL had to fight an internal fight to let Ty go, but this proves he's in charge and we're going to turn this turd around!

Having the balls to let Ty go when Greg Millers, Gail Millers, KOC and even Sloan, loved Ty to death is already a win in my book.

For the record DL did not fire Corbin. Corbin's contract expired and was not renewed.
I will wait for new coach, free agency and draft before I will start singing praise to DL. So far so good but to early to tell if we will be back in playoffs any time soon. The mess KOC created is not that easy to fix.

He was brought in and told to learn the ropes the year we first missed the playoffs. Not on him. Neither is Corbin. The players he drafted where rookies this year. Lindsey has spent the last year (since he took over) laying a foundation for this team to reach the upper echelon of the NBA. he is doing in his first year what everyone else in charge of the Jazz failed to do so for the last 5.

That is what we are celebrating.

Really? Rebuilding without losing and getting a team back to the WCFs. Moving a broken player for two #3 picks and future picks. Letting some guys walk and not extending others in a way that allowed this team to be gutted this summer but still have talent.

Other than drafting Burke and trading for Gobert, everything else that we have right now is due to KOC.

Except for cap space, an extra first rounder this year, one in 2017 and some second rounders. But that's cool.

Y'all keep right on doubting DL and he will keep on righting this ship and actually doing the work you all cry for endlessly. He doesn't need your praises.

Exactly and that everything else KOC left for DL is mediocre collection of players. He could have done way better. We could still have Matthews, Korver and Millsap. We could have drafted better. Anyway, lets see how DL is going to change team to his liking.

Fire Lindsey. Losers aren't leaders!

Seriously, the Jazz managed to barely squeak into the playoffs. And were unceremoniously ousted. Then, with basically the same roster, they missed the following year. Is that really success? The emperor had no clothes and Lindsey was the only one brave enough to proclaim it.

The Millers were presented with two plans: re-sign Millsap, Carroll, Foye and other vets, compete for a low playoff spot, and keep drafting in the 12-18 range, or tear down and rebuild. If option b, no better time to do it than what was expected to be the best draft in many, many years. I've believed in DL from the moment he announced the Jazz weren't attempting to re-sign Big Al and then pulled the trigger on the GS deal. I admit I was sad to see Millsap go. But Paul would have given Utah too much this season. Jazz probably would have won 35 games and been picking out of the top-10.

Welcome to the fold!

It's his second year.

Prior to that, KOC made BIG moves to acquire young talent after Jerry left. Prior to that he took big gambles on a couple free agents and in the draft, and put together a pretty good team that couldn't quite match up.

Plenty of GMs have started out as strong or stronger than DL, and ended up falling flat on their faces.

Burke and Gobert don't look like stars, and a couple late 1sts from Golden State aren't likely to be that valuable. DL failed to get anything for either Big Al or Millsap. It's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early to celebrate DL. We should probably wait until he does something that makes the team better.

He was the GM during the 2012/13 season as well. And no, it's not success.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying DL is a bad GM. I'm just saying he really hasn't done anything yet to show that he's a good GM. This offseason should be interesting.

Matthews was let go due to luxury tax concerns: re-signing him would have cost Utah $9M. And a large part of that was caused by the horrible contract of your namesake. As for Paul, DL made that decision this past off-season, not KOC. It was either rebuild or re-sign vets and try for an 8th seed.

Korver...really? The same guy who ADMITTED passing up shots (when the Jazz were counting on him to score) in order to protect his personal record? I want no part of a player who values stats over his team.

He got rid of Corbin. That's an accomplishment in itself considering the history of the Miller organization.

If he hires Boylen? Absolutely not. In fact, if he makes such a hire, I'll lose any confidence in his ability to do anything good here.

This tired argument. And KOC FAILED to get anything for Boozer. DL got draft picks for Big Al and Millsap. Make a trade for vets and the team has no salary cap space. What could have those players fetched at the trade deadline? Perhaps a late first and an expiring. Or a late first and a 2-yr contract. DL essentially got that. And he has cap space to sign players and extend contracts. Utah's goal was to get in a good position financially.

And wait to celebrate? I'd say the #4 pick (pending the lottery) is cause for celebration. It's EXACTLY what DL wanted when he made the GS trade. In fact, probably >>>>>> expectations. I'll bet DL expected the Jazz to be in the 30-35 win range and get a pick somewhere between 8-12.
