Back Up Point Guards

Price should stay on the team. He shouldn't get regular minutes, but I agree with everything Broncster has said.

Or Kyle Weaver.

McCamey is not someone I want in a young locker-room.

I think Kyle Weaver signed overseas.

Watson is far from a given to resign with Utah - I think he up'ed his value with all the PT he fell into this year.

On the other hand, I'm fairly convinced Ronnie Price would have been out of the NBA 3 years ago if it weren't for The Jazz. I'm also fairly convinced he'll be back in Utah again next season.

Watson is the perfect back up for this team. I would like Burks to be the third PG, but knowing the jazz, they like to carry 3 PG's on the roster at all times. The third PG will probably Ronnie Price..

Third stringers never play. Would we rather have a guy on the bench with a great attitude that gives it his all or should we try to shoot for someone with a lot more potential? You know, like someone who in a few years may have a 20% chance of being a 10 minute second stringer on some team somewhere.

Jerry liked 3 PG's who knows what Ty will do. With Hayward and Burks ability to handle the ball I could see them only having two legit PG's on the roster.

If we do go for 3 PG's then Pullen>>>>Price

Exactly.

I agree with those that want Watson as backup and Burks as #3. Done.

I like Hansbrough but he gone to Germany. I like Pullen but I don't think he's necessary.

anyone advocating price's return seriously needs to look at last seasons stats....

PER - 5.5
FG% - 35.2
3% - 29.0
AST - 0.9
T/O -0.9
AST/TO ratio - 1.0

and an even more startling stat

Win shares = -0.7
any time the win shares estimate is negative, it means he is hindering the team while on the court

I promise price will be back on the roster. When healthy he is a great short minutes energy guy and a change of pace PG. Perfect 3rd PG guy. He also busts his *** on defense and does the same in practice making everyone work harder. He wants to be in Utah and plays for the minimum.

Agreed... Harris/Watson/Price

Harris
Bell . . Burks
CJ . .
Favors . . Milsap
Jefferson . . Okur . . Kanter

9 Spots filled. 4 to fill:

Early Watson
AK
Jeremy Evans
Price

As a few have said, Price is being paid for his skills as a 13th man on roster. Good Team guy.

IF in fact Burks can fill the 3rd PG role and Okur plays, I'd rather spend the 13th roster spot on re-signing AK than Price. If we decide to keep 14, maybe then we keep him...
1. Harris
2. Watson
3. Burks
4. Hayward
5. Bell
6. CJ
7. Evans
8. Millsap
9. Favors
10. Jefferson
12. Okur
13. AK

Harris-Watson
Hayward-Burks-Bell
Millsap-Miles-Evans
Jefferson-Kanter
Favors-Okur

I think we pretty much all agree that we should re-sign Watson which would bring us to 12 guys. I can't stand AK and don't think we should re-sign him but we really could use a multi-dimensional, long 3. It makes sense and he'd be our 13th guy. We usually like to keep one spot open so if we were to sign just one more, I'd be of the opinion that it be a long 4/5, maybe someone like Elson who brings it every night and sets a good example for our young core. Could we use a 3rd pg, sure? But we have Burks, Hayward, Miles, and even AK if he's re-signed to take over that duty if necessary.

*I just can't get it out of my mind that everything about the idea of re-signing AK turns me off and screams no. He's a cancer through and through and we shouldn't sell our souls to retain him no matter the price.
