My post was in response to Dala keeping the debate open with Dutch on this tired *** issue.

Dutch keeps saying other people are "screaming" about Hitler being right-wing. Log has an A+ post explaining how it absolutely doesn't matter. We should have followed that lead and shut that line of discussion down, since, you know, it doesn't matter at all if Hitler was a leftist or a rightist or based on our current political landscape a hybrid and/or some one who got his foot in the door with socialism (everyone was a socialist in the aftermath of the great depression, it was the place to be for smart political figures in the 1930s) and then flipped to hard-right authoritarianism. It doesn't matter.

Yet we've had months of Dutch thinking he's got some golden point to make proving that Hitler was a socialist. Log has the best post to date on that topic and then Dala come in with this stupid as **** post about "Well actually, Hitler was right-wing, left-wing is holy and wonderful" straight nonsense. It's more of my team is better than your team, typical stupid fan banter. Dala should be a little more sophisticated than that, but he's not. He's a liberal fan-boy. He has a hard time seeing reality outside his obsession for liberalism.

I'm super ****ing sick of these discussions being led astray by Dutch. Like super ****ing sick of it. Log delivers a wonderful post. Dala undoes it immediately. **** you Dala. **** you, **** you, **** you. Grow the **** up, back your mouth of the liberal dick and take an independant look at the world you live in. If you can't do that... please stop egging Dutch on! You are now his justification for explaining 10000000000000000 more times that Hitler was a socialist. thank you! Thank you SOOOOOOOO much! Yay.

This. In spades. It only matters for idelogues and other extremists who want to be able to use it to shut up groups they disagree with. It virtually never leads to intelligent discourse and its usefulness in weeding out dangerous ideologies is spurious at best.

Yeah, I was going to repost a reply I had on the subject, but I'm fond of you and this forum, so I won't, lol.

I did wake up out of a bad dream this morning with the feeling America is going through some kind of psychotic episode. A narrative of what is happening and whose fault from the Right. A narrative of what is happening and whose fault from the Left. A post truth landscape that will become permanent, and nobody will ever again agree what is fact and what is fiction. No facts that can be agreed on in science, in history, in politics, in religion, in anything whatsoever. Will we get to the point where we argue over which direction is north, does the sun rise in the east? None of this seems very psychologically healthy.

I'm so sick of it all, and depressed over what is happening in America, with such a headache trying to figure out exactly what the hell do I call what is happening in America anyway, it seems like some kind of nation wide insanity is endemic and incurable, the afterlife, if there is one, is looking better all the time.

I have some of the same fears. I see it in my daughter and her friends (she is 16). They have arguments that blow my mind due to the amount of pure misinformation they all spew as "fact" and on serious topics like racism, science, gender identity, etc. etc. I have always encouraged my kids to seek the truth from solid sources, but the solid sources are harder to find in a sea of look-alikes that slant and skew the "facts" to fit an agenda. Even in the realm of science the pressure to get the next grant and get published and the control that publications wield is a mine-field waiting to blow up, and it becomes more and more difficult to ascertain what is real, what is fact, and what is safe and what is dangerous. I am not a dooms-day prophet believer by any stretch, but where this is headed is much closer to chaos discord and witch-huntery than it is unity and agreement and mutual benefit. It is more than a little frightening.

I think one of the biggest things we can start doing is calling out our own peers when they are guilty of not listening and demagoguery. Our friends, family, neighbors. Now do so in a thoughtful way, not in your face aggressiveness. That just shuts discussion and listening down.

Only when we start holding ourselves and those around us to the standard of thoughtful discourse will we ever get anywhere.

It might already be far to late for that.

Yeah, I'm not sure why you guys that are bugged by Dutch so much don't put him on ignore. I live that feature. I also don't get why people I put on ignore constantly follow my posts. Like, you hate my posts so much you can't help but read them and dislike them.

Dalamon's anti-American, liberal biased rantings got old a long time ago.

The politicized version of reactionary being applied strictly to conservatives afraid of change is clearly stupid logic (although there is merit there if you accept the definition). Both sides are reactionary and if anything the alt-left has been more reactionary in recent years.

I don't use tapatalk to post. I just post from my chrome browser on my Note 5 most the time. It can be annoying and I end up posting with a lot of grammatical errors, but I find if I hit post, I can read what I wrote a lot easier and correct any errors. Writing with one finger going 90 mph can be dangerous.

I know next to nothing about Ben Shapiro. I listened to all of that and that was rough to listen to. He is saying there is no stats of something but there is overwhelming stats showing that he is wrong on that. Its nice to say look at individual cases and we should but it is overwhelmingly larger than that. Most people are racist, that is the fact that he and many struggle to accept but its pretty easy to see both anecdotally and with studies and evidence.

From this it sounds like he is trying to get everyone to buy into a concept that people want to hear. The easy safe path. I am sure he gets a lot of support because of it. I am guessing a lot of white conservatives really like him.

He sounds like he is smart and has well crafted arguments to prove his points.

Huh? He cited plenty of things. I don't know how you can be annoyed by someone who says look at the individual cases and BLM should stop stereotyping white people. It's not the 1970's anymore. This guy, in that video, is doing more to better race relations than anyone I've heard yet. He also came across as the type of person who can be convinced otherwise.

This guy, in that video, is doing more to better race relations than anyone I've heard yet. He also came across as the type of person who can be convinced otherwise.

Looking at individuals is fine, we should do that along with the bigger picture. But you can't ignore that its a bigger problem then a few people that are very racist. Almost everyone stereotypes. Ignoring that leads to more problems and shifts the blame from everyone to a couple over the top crazy racists.

This. I also want to see the sources that counter Shapiro's sources, which he sited and is logic based. This is why I like Shapiro so much - he uses logic and facts. There are stances I disagree with and what his interns post on Facebook can be click-bait and annoying at times, but every time I watch his speeches I get infuriated with the left's reactions and the false blanket statements they label Shapiro with.

Name one institution that's inherently racist and the evidence to support that claim in 2017. You'll be able to find individual cases of rascism and corruption like the Baltimore PD, but the idea that the government and other institutions are run in a racist way from the top, is a false narrative. Yes, the US has a history of institutional rascism, but as we've evolved as a country, it's not like that any more.

I get a real kick out of the idea that even though blacks in America were cut out of the economic system from the 1600's through the 1950's but we're all good now and the only racism we have to worry about is individuals. Jim Crow isn't even outside living memory and we're supposed to believe everything is fine and dandy. Come on.
