Conley/Clarkson/Olynyk/Markkanen +11.6 net rating

Our best 2-player lineups to play at least 80 mins together:

Conley/Sexton +19.0 net rating

Sexton/Olynyk +16.9 net rating

Sexton/Clarkson +15.3 net rating

These are smaller sample sizes comparatively to our most used lineups but I find it interesting which lineups are extremely effective for a few minutes a game.

A lot of Conley/Sexton/Clarkson showing up in all different combinations.

In the 85 minutes we've played without Conley or Olynyk on the floor we have a net rating of -13.6. That seems like enough to get the tank revved up.
Trade away those guys and I guarantee you'll see a big drop in Markkanen's production (and motivation) as well. He doesn't seem like a dude who can just "get his" no matter what's going on around him. His chemistry with Mike in particular is a beautiful thing.

So yeah... it sounds ridiculous, but without journeyman Kelly Olynyk and 45 year old Mike Conley, we're definitely headed to rock bottom, fast.

Trading away KO,imo, would actually hurt more with the spacing that would close up. There are no reasonable back ups -not one's that are heads up playmakers. It needs to be addressed if they are going to keep pushing for wins all season to add a backup not dump KO. Trading away both those two would be a major white flag, that losing and tanking, are far more important to this front office, than building on what they already have. I don't see them doing that at all.
I think it would be ludicrous to trade either of them this season now, unless one of them gets hurt.
I think THT might get dumped if they can unload him, using a 2nd for a injured expiring flier

THT lol.

turns out when your TS% is well below .500 your team is going to struggle with you on the floor. good hell - he's so bad.
The funny thing is you know they are not giving him the green light to shoot, and yet he does it anyway. He is a case for sure. He has some interesting defensive skills and can get to the hoop. But, a lot of journeymen can do that, keep him moving on to another roster I say.

Strikes me as a guy attracted to highlight reels. Throws step backs on uncontested looks and goes for flashy dunks.

How do the Jazz find the next Kelly Olynyk? It’s clear that they utilize that type of player so much, so how do we find the younger version of that?

Well, unless the guy moves up draft boards, Baba Miller is another AD type, massive growth spurt guard turned forward. He is raw as a big, but has elite size with guard skills. Could turn into a steal if he is around when they pick assuming one oif the 3 picks is in his range.

cause he stinky lol
He's rough around the edges, but his defensive talent is tops on our team. He's an exciting playmaker who is only getting better. I see him as kind of a utility type 6th man. A guy who can play a lot of different positions defensively and you put him on a spaced floor he will be a productive playmaker. Extremely rare archetype and will be extremely valuable. His development should be a priority.

Not sure we really need to get another KO. Lauri will transition into playing more minutes at the 5 and we will get more long athletic type wing/wing tweener players to put around Lauri.

And playing like KO is such a veteran thing. It will be hard to draft that kind of player and have them be able to do that unless you are getting some kind of top tier talent high in the draft.

But if you are trying to track someone this year, look at Kyle Filipowski.

That would be fair years ago as your take was the same as most scouting departments takes when he entered the league. So far he has literally not done anything to improve his shot selection or shooting ability. He is who he is. He does have playmaking ability and defensive chops. He is not entirely useless as a scorer if he has spacers. But don't expect him to develop in any area at this point, since he clearly has reached his ceiling. I am taking him off the floor every time he starts his chucking and if that does not get him to tone it down, he has no place here.

Sir he is 21 years old and he's been a good player this year. Dont let these fauxnerds who misuse advanced stats after 10 games try to spin you into a negative-THT view.

So he is just a very slow learner? will be 22 later this month in his 4th year in the NBA It has nothing to do with stats with me. The ye test alone shows me he is the odd man out on this roster. He can have some minor success, maybe even get another contract in a couple years if he last through this one. I don't however think he impacts winning at all with his positives, given all his negative traits

Not everyone has the same path and progression isnt linear. The talent is clear and his defensive skills are high.

And he's part of all the worst 2-, 3-, and 4-man lineups statistically, on defense and offense on the season. Weird right?

I mean, look at how much the lineup data changes game to game this early in the season. I'm not saying lineup data is useless overall, but this early in the season it's practically useless.

By the time he’s 40, he could be serviceable.
