Essentially you can use deadly force to defend yourself, your home or your family if you feel life or limb are threatened. If a person uses force or stealth to enter your home they are automatically considered to be threatening life and limb and you can use deadly force to stop them.

Don't ever think of it as you being allowed to kill someone if they step foot on your property. That's never really the case. You should always consider it as what you are allowed to do to stop someone from threatening the life of you or your family. Once the threat has been neutralized you are no longer allowed to use deadly force.

Why do you people keep adding stuff that was not said so you can argue against it?

No one said "ordering attacks" but just planning them. I may have 1000 plans to blow up every school in the Reno area in my house, but if I never act on them it does not pose an imminent threat. Obviously if I have a group of cronies who follow my every command and I tell them to carry out the attacks, that is different.

If any of those whackos actually carry out multiple attacks and lead an army of willing soldiers like Bin Laden, then yes, they would be considered imminent threats too if they were still planning attacks.

Again you miss the point. If they walked in on me writing plans at my desk I would probably get arrested but that would not be justification to shoot me outright as I am sitting at my desk, pen in hand. That has been the discussion at this point, that for it to be legal to shoot someone in that circumstance they need to pose an imminent threat. So arrested, sure, but to be shot? That would not be legal.

Even then it would not pose an imminent threat. 1000 plans to blow up all the schools written in notebooks are not IMMINENT. They are POTENTIAL. Now if there were bombs planted all over the place then that would be imminent.

Completely inapplicable as stated.

If you walk in on some guy raping your daughter you are fully within the law to defend her in any way possible, including killing him.

HOWEVER, if you have knocked him down and tied him up and called the police...THEN while he lay there you put a gun to his head and blew his brains out, you are outside the law and will (and should) be prosecuted. That would be illegal.

Just as if after I tied up the guy raping my daughter I cut him in various places and let my dogs eat him alive (pomeranians can be vicious little ******** =) it would be illegal. The guy might deserve that kind of death, but administering it that way, in those circumstances, would be illegal.

So here is the quote where I talked about the daughter rape thing. Care to point out where I changed it to "in my house". You make such a fool of yourself when you keep changing quotes then get proved wrong.

No of course Bin Laden is NOT an imminent threat just sitting there with his pen writing stuff down. If we walked in on him sitting at a desk, pen in hand, how is that IMMINENT. Go look up imminent please, so you are not, yet again, talking out of your ***.

Of course he poses a threat in general because he has plans to attack people, just as I would in my example about planning to blow up things in Reno. But that risk is in no way IMMINENT at that point in time.
