Biyombo- just came out he has back issues- worth the risk?

I've never really liked Biyombo over many of the guys we've talked about. All he really does is block shots. His offense is horrible. He doesn't seem to have good hands. I guess people think he'll be the next Ben Wallace? I think he's too risky--especially now that he has back issues and at one point questionable knees.

Sorry, but no way. Williams played over half the season with a broken hand, wouldn't even acknowledge it was broken so that opponents would not know. The coaching staff finally let it leak after it healed (right before the tourney). Miller (the coach) says every other player he has coached would have sat with that injury and that he thought Williams should do. Most players do not have anywhere close to the improvement that Williams has shown. Assuming that Knight will do the same is assuming that Knight is also incredibly above average, something that his performances early on this year would not indicate (if you actually watched his games). Williams stats may not be there is first year, but his game actually was still fun to watch.

I have watch Sean Elliot, Sean Rooks, Khalid Reeves, Damon S., Gilbert Arenas, Richard Jefferson, Luke Walton and Derrick Williams all play in person (only saw williams 6 times in person though). Of them, I felt that Elliot, Reeves, Arenas, and Jefferson would have good careers. I felt that Channing Frye would be lucky to make it to the league. Williams though is just an amazing competitor. He REFUSES to lose. He really is special. I honestly believe he may be the best to ever come out of Arizona.

Also, usually when pretty much everyone says a particular player is the best player in the draft, they usually are. This year most people say that about Williams. Some people say Irving but that's considering how well he does with the media for Cleveland's sake. In our case, that would be a tough call, but an impact big seems a better value if nothing else.

Also, according to Feldman, an NBA GM told him he wouldn't be surprised if Utah passed on Derrick Williams. How pissed would you be if that happened?
If KOC determined he can't be a viable SF, then I'm ok with that. Last thing we need is a Marvin Williams. He was highly regarded as a forward, but turned out to be a tweener and has been a role player - not worth where he was selected. You know Atlanta would love to have that pick back!

We already have 2 PF's who are superior to DWill in Millsap and Favors. Well, perhaps DWill has a better offensive game right now than Favors, but Millsap is close to being a 20/10 player who is just holding the spot warm until Favors steps in. I don't see Derrick as vastly superior to Knight or Kanter in terms of potential. To use a KOC expression, this draft lacks separation. I think we can get two starters from this draft. If DWill is viewed as strictly a PF, he's not, IMO, the type of rising star you take as BPA and look to trade who you already have on the roster at that position (Favors).

We must be reading different draft reports, Guitaro. When you say, "pretty much everyone says (Williams) is the best player in the draft," can you provide a few sources (outside of AZ media?). I'd say it's a very mixed and even bag amongst the national "experts": some say Irving, some say Williams, some say Kanter.

I haven't seen anyone else reports Biyombo's back problems beside Hoops Report. Maybe it's bogus?

It probably is.

And what's a "problem?"

Was his back a little sore?

Did they find a nail in it?

And what is a "knee problem?"

Again, a little soreness isn't a problem. But did they find ligament damage? Is he in crutches today?

This just seems all too vague and ill reported to warrant much credibility.

On the other hand, that same link says he has now been invited to the green room... so maybe the anticipated slide is over.

My dream is for the Jazz to move some combination of Jefferson, Harris, CJ, Raja, Tomic and picks (both current and future) for Kyrie Irving, Derrick Williams, Bismack Biyombo and Charles Jenkins. Yes, it's outlandish (although, IMO, not impossible, if Harris and Big Al have value to either CLeveland or teams that have assets that Cleveland likes).

A starting lineup of Favors-Williams-Millsap-Hayward-Irving is so ridiculously smart, crafty and versatile. A bench including Biyombo-Evans-Jenkins could also cause some serious headaches for opposing teams.

I will, no doubt, be at least a little disappointed after tonight's draft.
