Cakk Bakkers Part Deux: repentance thread

We could use Gobert. But none of the other options were better than Favors/Withey/Diaw that were available at the deadline. Who did you want? Bogut? Injured like always. The rest of the available options were too expensive or no better than our current rotation.

Pj Tucker could have been had and is a better option to guard Blake than we have on our roster.

It was just kind of silly to sit on cap space and all of our second round picks... these are the types of moves you acquire multiple seconds for.

Prolly not the time for this thread but I do wish we would have added a guy. Quin is a great coach who gets the most out of guys... I think a PJ Tucker would have been a great get. He could start at 4 for us.

I'm going to stay out of this now because I am really enjoying these games and don't want any bitterness to show. Our dudes are fighting and I'm just excited to be in a playoff series we have a legitimate shot at winning. Especially if it is the death knell for this clippers team.

I'm taking a break from this conversation, too. I was pissed enough I wanted to get at least a couple of bakkers on the record.

Time to start hoping that Q has a plan, that Favors is getting progressively into better game shape, that Withey can keep his head together, and that there's an Ace up the sleeve somewhere. I really want to believe we can get these next two games. If so, I think Gobert could get back for a game 6 and help us get into the second round where we deserve to be.

...more to come...

First off, Cappy wanted to sign Deron, so go ahead and look up my posts.

Secondly, Jazz barely missed getting HCA after super homer Locke predicted a drop to 7th, and then steal game 1 without Gobert. So, because we didn't steal game 2 without Rudy, everybody run cuz, once again, the sky is falling(shocker).

Utah has done just fine, and although a trade to improve the team would have been nice, none of us know what was actually on the table at any time and what we would have had to have given up, so yeah, I'll go ahead and give DL the benefit of the doubt.

But by all means, use Rudy's injury as a soap box to shout yer terrible frustrations.

P.S. Member last year when all the chicken littles were trashing DL cuz he couldn't do an awesome rebuild like the Portland Trailblazers?

I member.

Repped. With message.

Maybe it was rumors but weren't the jazz trying to land both Bogut and DWill, and they chose Cle so they could play for a ring?

Not going to argue with any of the first stuff because I agree... blazers weren't the model but did some smart things by getting value contracts and taking fliers on guys like Harkless... they effed it up this summer with the Turner signing. They fleeced Denver though on the plumlee deal. They are a good front office but I wouldn't trade rosters with them. So I for one didn't want them to be like Portland but did think we should have added value contracts like they did.

Yes, after they cleared waivers.

I'm happy with the overall direction we've gone. That doesn't mean I don't think there are ways we could have some insurance policies (and I thought a good insurance policy would come in the form of Bogut). You make a waiver claim for the minimum -- Philadelphia is on the hook for the rest -- let's play devils advocate and presume he' gets injured here and doesn't play -- we're out nothing (under the floor). But as we didn't make the move and there's no other argument against it, I'm sure the emerging consensus would be how unwise it would be to screw over Philadelphia and not building good-will with the league (like the two years of goodwill that gave GSW a ring).

Those rumors are still around. It is said that he wants to finish his career in Utah. If he signed a 1 year Cavs deal the Jazz could pick him up this off season. Regardless of if they re-sign Hill or not.

Then you need to look at back up C and trying to move 2 PGs and Burks.

Then look long and hard at the PF position. Is JJ a legit back up 4 now? Will Favors stay healthy and perform? Where is Lyles at in his development and is it likely to improve.

Jazz are rocking this year and it is entirely possible that there are up to a half dozen new faces on the team next year.

Favors, Mack, Lyles, Neto, Withey, Hill, Burks, Exum, Hayward and Ingles are all reasonable candidates to be traded or leave.

Wth is a cakk bakker?

Cakk bakker originally came from DL who used the term baking a cake, meaning they weren't going to spend lots of money signing free agents or bringing in significant players in trades. They wanted the young players on the roster to grow and develop and see what they had before continuing to shape the roster.

There were many debates as to cake baking. Some for being patient others to spending now and so on. Posters against cake baking changed it to be derogatory

I still say the metaphor should be soup not cake. Soup you have a base but add in as you need. Cake you just mix up and throw in the oven.

I'm a simmer but adjust to taste guy.
