What's new

Conley to start soon.

The only player who Conley can realistic replace on this current lineup is DM. Everyone else fills unique roles in our current gameplay that makes the lineup work. Doesn't matter if it's Rudy's rim protection and rebounding, Royce's perimeter D and switchability on defending the pick n roll, bojan's shooting or Ingles' pick n roll action that vitalize Rudy on offense, Conley just doesn't bring anything that is either unique or essential on the table. His best bet is to take DM's primary ballhandling role but I doubt he beat DM's current 25 ppg production or 46% efficiency.

Oh you think that those of us that have been saying he is struggling think there is no reason for his struggles.
Now I see why you are so confused.

Do I think you don’t? No, of course not. I absolutely think some people have never seen him play before he got here and just think he sucks.

Quite the opposite. People said he would suck and he sucked exactly as those suggested. all because people paid attention and watched his game in Grizz then compare them to the way we play. Came up with the intellectual conclusion that his game would not translate cuz we lack the essential elements(low scoring threat and stretch bigs) that made him good in the first place.

I'm starting to wonder whether or not Conley has been at 100% at any point this season. I remember an interview Mike gave a month or two ago where he talked about playing through being banged up a lot while with the Grizzlies and he said the Jazz had a different approach. Yesterday Andy Larsen tweeted that Mike has been playing with certain nagging injuries for years.

Just a thought, but I wonder if those nagging issues turned into something bigger in the preseason/early season and Mike tried to play through it like always until the Jazz caught on.

Players don’t just magically suck all of a sudden for no reason. It just doesn’t happen. Anyone with eyes can see he’s been struggling but what everyone is failing to realize and understand is there are reasons behind it.

Chris Paul has had a nice bounce-back season in OKC. He may not have been 100% healthy last season.

That said, the system that the player is playing in makes a huge difference. Conley hasn't adapted well to the Jazz so far. Deron Williams magically sucked when he left the Jazz.

Last night's game was very discouraging. Donovan did not look right, and in fact, his poor play on both ends of the court cost us the game. Moving Conley back to the starting lineup seems like a move of desperation. What we really need is another big guy to help Rudy.
